If they don't drop it tonight, I'll be stunned if it doesn't come tomorrow without an explanation. Doubling down on the "first half of May" bit, coupled with all of the trolling today, and then not delivering would be a really, really weak look. EDIT: I am also now wondering if they aren't even remotely concerned about the LTL announcement drowning them out. Riot is the bigger festival and aesthetically the two are pretty different. But there's bound to be at least some overlap in the fan bases... Which could make social media difficult tomorrow if Riot isn't the one who releases first. Curious to see how it plays out and really hoping they don't go back on that "first half of May" thing.
Just booked my hotel babyyyyyyy, I promise everyone the lineup will come out by the end of tomorrow! I have never been wrong on any predictions in this thread (search function is broken, don't even try to use it folks)
There's a LOT of NIN mega fans that got shut out of the two Cleveland shows and are waiting for whichever fest announces them as a headliner first. Have a feeling that if LTL beats them to the punch they may lose a good portion of this crowd. Not that it matters a ton because RF is stilll bad ass, but they may want to try to beat LTL to the punch on a fairly rare headliner.
I have my doubts on Nine Inch Nails, I think those are literally the only two shows they are playing this year... IF they play any festival, I'd probably lean towards Voodoo since Reznor has a house there We'll know soon... I think the kinks they have to work out for this whole transfer/discount/refund trifecta is delaying it more than the actual line up
If there’s a silver lining to be found from today maybe it’s this: the Twitter person is way too brash for someone who has pissed a bunch of people off and thinks the lineup is *just okay*. people are genuinely frustrated and I get the sense that riot fest knows they have an ace up their sleeve that will fix that.
LTL already teased NIN this afternoon. Danny Wimmer posted a picture of writer Anais Nin to his social media today. There’s gonna be more shows.
I mean, every year people get pissed off at most festivals on social media. And it doesn’t really effect things. I think most people aren’t legit pissed so much as venting in a negative way. But regardless? I think the fact that they’re tweeting again this close to end of business bodes well for more info. People seem to forget that the snark does nothing but drive Twitter views up for them.
And if LTL gets NIN, yeah... Riot better have scored some killer headliners because that would eat into sales.
For selfish reasons I hope we have a different number 1 headliner than NIN. I like them enough but don’t feel strongly enough about needing to see them again. Although there could be a lot worse headliners so I wouldn’t complain at all.
I feel about the same way. But then again there aren’t really that many bands that can be #1 that would have me ecstatic outside of reunions. If we were going with a repeat headliner that could be, then I would want The Misfits (because I love them and would be willing to see them many times) or The Cure (because I only saw a little bit of their set before going to Weezer).
I don’t think it’s coming today. Prolly tomorrow or maybe they wait until Saturday. Who the fuck knows at this point
I like the thought, but it would only matter if they pulled off a Replacements/Misfits level reunion. Otherwise I don’t think a festival lineup makes non-music news
I have heard the lineup mentioned every year on the morning news shows while I get ready for work. I think they care a lot less about a Misfits reunion than just reporting that the lineup was released.
