The early years of the Comedy Tent at Roo were def a nightmare, but not really their fault. They booked Conan, Hannibal, Bob Saget, Tosh, Workaholics, Broad City, and Reno 911 casts in a comedy tent that held maybe 1,500 people. The tent needed to be air conditioned due to the TN heat, and the small size was due to making it more like a typical comedy venue. People would queue all day to wait for these acts, since capacity was so limited and there were 90,000 people at the festival. In later years, they created a system where you lined up at 11am and selected which show you wanted to see that day, if there was still availability they scanned your wristband and were put on the list for the show, then you would just come back 5-10mins before the show you wanted to see. It was a much better system! Unfortunately, within the last 2-3yrs Bonnaroo got rid of the Comedy tent. It was such a good time, seeing Bridget Everett there is one of my all time favorite festival moments.
Pretty sure they were on the MCR tour and are sticking to the East coast now that it fell through this year.
No sure how reliable this is but a buddy of mine that is a huge Faith No More fan sent me a text saying they're announcing some US festival shows for 2021 soon. Would they fit RF? I could see them being a perfect pre-headliner at Louder Than Life.
Good point. But the second wave is usually a handful of bands that round out the line-up. We are presumably getting nearly 50% of the line-up this time around. And given that it's linked to refunds, transfers, etc. with GA tickets going back on-sale? It's a bigger deal than your usual second wave addition. It's also two new headliners and second wave doesn't usually have that (2015 being an obvious exception where both SOAD and the Prodigy were added). Kinane was the first one who came to mind for me! I'd also throw Chris Gethard on the short list there. Mike Wiebe from the Riverboat Gamblers/Drakulas is a great comic too. For newer or lesser-known comics I'd love to see Beth Stelling, Taylor Tomlinson, Ian Fidance, and/or Shappell Lacy. Very much so. It's a coy response, but again - as much as they troll? They don't tend to blatantly spread false information.
That’s exactly what I thought. MCR and Thursday both on Riot and Aftershock made me think that tour rumor was true
I heard that too, originally, but those rumors were squashed when it was leaked that The Used were gonna open a Blink tour
Oh I realize all of those. I’m just trying to give myself reasons why they will buck the trend and not bother with an announcement or teaser of the announcement. Because at this point I just want it dropped as soon as possible.
I would be down if any of those 4 bands opened for MCR, if the 4 are on the bill oh boy I would go bananas at that tour
Legit mad at myself for not thinking of Gethard!! he is even one 5 comedy-related pins i have on my battle jacket! (the other 4 being comedy bang bang, and then the3 hosts of how did this get made?) need to get a kinane patch/pin.
The Used rumor was just Bert running his mouth, I think. But I could also see them having Thursday on one part with the Used opening another leg. Probably not at once. That's some "fan fiction" stuff, probably. Haha. I could easily see them wanting to have two openers though. And Creeper would make a lot of sense in the UK.
I would argue that he's up there with Kinane at this point, in terms of his attachment to "punk rock." Oh! And Dave Ross and Ben Roy would probably be in the mix too. Ian Fidance s another one, albeit on a smaller scale, and from the angle of ska rather than gritty pop-punk. Hah.
