But Carly hasn't made herself a meme? She's put out pop bangers her whole career and has never embraced the meme status. I just don't think that category applies to her at all.
Ok this wasn’t the kind of flack I was expecting— but it’s fair. I know she’s definitely taken seriously among pop fans. I guess where I was coming from is that typical Riot Fest attendees might consider seeing her ironically or out of curiosity.
Also I came to this idea after seeing how low she was booked on festival lineups in 2018 and 2019. It makes me think her standard asking fee is lower than you would expect from a household name artist. If I’m wrong about that, then my whole idea is moot and she’s probably bigger than riot fest would want to book.
In terms of a meme act this year...(and he is the literal embodiment of one), what about Rick Astley?
NOFX dropped off PRB and are being replaced by Descendents. I don't think Descendents would play since they played RF but I assume NOFX is still in play for this based on their reasoning for dropping
Yeah, I'd say they're still in play. Feels more like a reaction to them being on that specific festival. I totally understand the reaction from fans (or non-fans, as it were) and I'm glad the band is making that decision. Feels like the smart, responsible one across the board,
For sure, Larry Arms moved to Friday as well, which I'm extremely tempted to just go Friday and maybe Saturday now. The whole weekend might be tough to pull off especially after Riot the week before lol
I would love to see Carly Rae Jepsen anywhere. Big fan of hers. But speaking of meme acts, I would be down for 100 gecs
I wouldn't put 100 Gecs in the meme act category either, but I'd definitely be excited to see them. Riot Fest will probably never outdo the meme act level of booking The Pizza Underground.
Without knowing how frequently Tim likes tweets about him and/or OpIvy there's no real way of knowing but... I think she's just messing around. But fuck it. I'll bite.
Orville Peck & Future Islands would be interesting, but I doubt either are playing Riot... just glad to see more names playing shows in 2021
This is exactly what I was talking about when I said Carly Rae Jepsen is billed way low at other festivals. That’s why I could see her closing out a side stage at riot fest and not breaking the bank
Sorry Lloyd Christmas, I'm saying there's no chance I'm guessing Lolla or Pitchfork has her booked already anyways
New Descendants record out in July! I know they played 2019, but with COVID, I'd say all lineup rotation hopes go out the window.
