OSEES are playing Thalia Hall 9/17 and 9/18 so they are out, but also an alternative if you wanna go to a show but don’t like the headliners those days at Riot.

It’s still super weird to me that Andrew WK and Gwar weren’t announced in the first wave. I wonder if something contractually wouldn’t allow them being announced

Riot Fest not announcing Andrew WK & Gwar in the first wave sounds like something Riot Fest would do.. Andrew WK is playing Furnace Fest the week after, but that's in Birmingham, Alabama but so is TBS & Thursday (and maybe a few more).. Gwar was supposed to play that metal fest in south Illinois, but I'm not sure if that's even still happening... so who knows

The Hold Steady seems like a decent possibility for the next wave since they put out a new record earlier this year. They had a handful of dates in a few cities moved from 2020 to this Summer that just got pushed again to 2022, but they are still planning on shows at First Ave in Nov of this year so it could go either way I suppose. Their 2016 after show at Cobra remains one of my top 5 concert experiences.

I love the Hold Steady, but they are so much better in a club than at a festival

Oh yea- it's not even close. That said, if they do play Riot, it'll likely be their first post-covid show, so that would still be rad to see.

Illuminati Hotties just announced signing to Hopeless with a new album dropping this year. Wonder if we'll see them added to the line-up in the second wave. Hopeless has decent representation in the middle-card section of the line-up. Could see them being added and would make a really great early day main stage or later day small stage act.

EDIT: Looks like the Souls are considering doing an outdoor show in Jersey in August/September. They also have that outdoor fest booked in AZ for November. Throw them in the "possible, but still unlikely" mix now.

Illuminati Hotties would be a great add. They'd actually get me to make sure I'm on time if they were playing early.

Right?!! Hard to tell what stage they would wind up on too. But my immediate thought/hope is that they play the main stage the same day as the Pumpkins. Just feels like it would be a really cool fit.

Microwave. They barely got to tour DIAWB before Covid. And they’ve played before.

Illuminati Hotties would be awesome. Any of those “indie punk” bands a la them, Diet Cig, Pronoun, Remember Sports, Retirement Party, Charly Bliss, etc. would be great adds

Remember Sports have a new album coming out, so it's def possible... saw them open up for Death Rosenstock & Joyce Manor, I dug them

im going to trust you all because 'current indie punk' is a genre i am wildly unfamiliar with. I like fidlar, radkey and screaming females and i dont even know if any of them count in that, lol

It’s more just like artists who make indie rock music with punk leanings/vibes/energy who would fit right in at Riot Fest. I’ve only ever seen Radkey live from the ones you mentioned but I’d say all three would fit.

My gf has been SUPER into them lately. I’m sure she’ll get stoked if they’re added

well if you thought we said dumb things here, someone on Reddit has Arcade Fire as a headliner (and like 2 punk bands playing the entire Saturday)

also Will Butler did an interview last week basically saying they weren't playing any shows this year

    I’m Not Ready to Perform

As wildly off as they may be, i appreciate a mock poster/schedule, lord knows ive wasted some hours doing a few (not that one though)

Their Saturday would be bay far the worst single day of Riot Fest for me ever. They hardly even listed any bands I would see but don’t feel that strongly about.

Arcade Fire’s set in 2017 at Lollapalooza was amazing so I would be down if they brought that energy again

I'm hoping for IH or Charly Bliss. Having seen a few of the others live before, they really don't put on a great live show. They sound great in a small club, but Diet Cig would just sound like a big ol' nothing burger in the middle of a field.

But like you, I hope they add a few acts similar (whether I like them or not) just because it'll add more diversity!

That line-up is straight-up bad and incredibly unlikely for so many reasons. You can see they put some thought into it and went with what seemed reasonable... But then there's odd shit like Fishbone not being included with the rest of the ska/reggae bands. Beach Bunny being billed above A.W.K. and Deafheaven. Culture Abuse not being cancelled. Not knowing that Devo is no longer saying it'll be their final tour, etc. And just randomly picking Iggy Pop as a Thursday night headliner.

But hey. Wishlists are wishlists for a reason, right?

That being said: Dan Vapid and Dollar Signs are actually two low-key "might happens" that I never would have thought of that MIGHT actually be a possibility. Same with the Lunachicks.

My current 3 & a half headliners I'm going with No Doubt or Op Ivy (whoever cashes the check first).. Sunday,
Smashing Pumpkins (Pixies, Offspring, maybe some Veruca Salt).. Friday
& I really want to say System Of A Down.. that Op Ivy check is gonna be a big one though.. so I'm gonna say devo/Run the Jewels (and fuck it, Weird Al).. Saturday

give Laura Jane Grace her one wish:
"I’m just going to throw this out there and I hope you’re listening
    @RiotFest
... We deserve an Operation Ivy reunion when shows are allowed to happen again. It is owed to us."
