since someone mentioned the Mountain Goats, maybe Riot could lure Mangum out of his hobbit hole of seclusion and book Neutral Milk Hotel
I take that back. I'd much prefer the Strokes get a headlining slot than Neutral Milk Hotel be booked anywhere in the line-up.
Maybe not as Top 3, but I think The Offspring can be in the bill this year. Its been a while since they played Riot
I'm almost positive they are going to be in the second wave, esp since they just put out a new album and are playing other festivals
Mudvayne reunion officially announced for: Aftershock (not headliner), Inkcareration (is a headliner), welcome to rockville, & louder than life
Tbh I don’t see Neutral Milk Hotel getting back together I could see Mangum doing some solo shows again tho, but that seems more like a Pitchfork thing I expect The Offspring to be on the lineup since the new album is out I’m hoping The Strokes and/or The Cure for headliners
Nobody thought they'd ever reunite a few years ago in the first place.. and when their last tour ended they called it an "extended hiatus".. Mangum is not exactly the easiest dude to figure out I'd be fine with the Strokes or the Cure... I think we're getting something completely left field no one has mentioned or Op Ivy as the 3rd headliner also, Danny Wimmer loves him some Mudvayne.. and I never knew Mudvayne broke up lol I could've sworn the last time I looked them up (which may have been like over 10 years ago.. I thought wikipedia said they were still together)
Fishbone is playing SoCal Hoedown on the Saturday. So it looks like they will be playing either Friday or Sunday.
They may be the band already announced that is playing Thursday, if not that's a heck of a one day turnaround from LA to Chicago
You know what I just realized? Thursday (the band) is still playing Riot even after MCR dropped off. I know there were rumors that they were gonna open MCR’s reunion tour. I wonder if that changes anything
I just really dislike that band. I get why they're important, but having seen them live at a festival before: It was incredibly boring. Just feels like a wasted slot. I think they are very likely considering they have a new album and it's been a few years. Left field is what I'm guessing too. But I refuse to get overhyped about Operation Ivy. The interesting thing about this year is that we literally have no idea who the headliner is going to be. Hints about who is/isn't active and looking to play a show are virtually nonexistent given the current circumstances. So "left field" could be somebody who might otherwise be really obvious... Or somebody we might never even have considered a reality in any other year (e.g., Op Ivy).
I mean, it probably means they'll be doing fewer shows. But I would think a bigger festival like Riot Fest is an easy enough obligation for a smaller band to stick to (especially when shows on their own will be more challenging to book and potentially fairly limited).
Mudvanye is only playing the Danny wimmer shows and nothing else. They are exclusive to his festivals this year from my understanding
I've heard other rumors that Creeper were gonna open the MCR reunion tour but they are still on the bill for Aftershock.
Creeper would make sense as an early day main stage band. Both in terms of aesthetics and because Roadrunner is a division of Warner. But, given that they're UK-based, I could see that tour not happening as having an impact on them being on the bill.
If they cancel/postpone Hella Mega, I'd like to see Green Day play as The Network, Weezer play as Goat Punishment, and Fall Out Boy perform TTTYG in full as Bedussey. It won't happen- but again, I'd like to see it.
