Yah Mo Not B There, Michael McDonald playing with the Doobie Brothers August 8 at Tinley Park sorry had to do it
Shaky Knees bringing some fire this year. My wish list for Riot from this would be Pumpkins, the whole 2nd line, of monsters & men, the darkness, orville peck, & murder by death
This lineup is so good. I’m actually considering the trip to Atlanta. I mean, I say that for a lot of fests, but this is too good
Smashing Pumpkins playing Mellon Collie in its entirety for the 25-year. When this happens I am owed a Deluxe VIP 3-day pass
shockingly there was no crossover last year between Shaky Knees & Riot (probably the fact they are 6 months apart has a lot to do with it), but there's definitely a few bands this year I could see that make sense for Riot like Jawbox, Angels & Airwaves, the Darkness, Murder By Death etc etc
I think that has a lot to do with tour routing. Also, Shaky last year was a little softer compared to previous years. IIRC Riot and Shaky had a lot in common in 2016?
I honestly had a lot of fun seeing Smashing Pumpkins this summer, I'd totally welcome them headlining.
Looking at that line-up, I would say... Likely For Riot Fest: Smashing Pumpkins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Joan Jett, Angels & Airwaves, the Darkness, Jawbox Possible But Not As Likely For Riot Fest: The Strokes, Liam Gallagher, Royal Blood, Drive-By Truckers I'm not including Guided By Voices, the Front Bottoms, Beach Bunny, Murder By Death, Surfer Blood, Plague Vendor in there because they are either "repeat offenders" or in the "it's only a matter of time before they play" category.
Good Fits: The Strokes, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Joan Jett, Royal Blood, Stereolab, The Darkness, All Them Witches Seem Like Good fit but not happening: Smashing Pumpkins, Liam, GBV, Delta Spirit, Black Pistol Fire, Surfer Blood You'll be hard pressed to convince me Riot Mike wants to book a band fronted by a dude who makes Alex Jones appearances. Vegan is one thing, Trump backing show is another thing all together. Delta Spirit were at least repped by C3 so that would likely point to Lollapalooza if anything. Liam: probably too expensive. GBV just played and so have BPF and SB. Strokes I'm betting money on at this point. YYYs I predicted two years ago and they'd make a great #3 headliner especially if they book someone like No Doubt or Rammstein as a #1. Joan Jett should join WK and GWAR and play every year. God bless that woman. Stereolab played Pitchfork, right? Let's have them play Riot now then. Darkness are just a perfect ass fit, no? ATW would be a beautiful band to play the small stage later in the afternoon.
I think Swans, Anna von Hausswolff, AJJ, and Xiu Xiu are all likely out based on their summer Chicago shows
So it looks like ratm accidentally leaked their entire 2020 tour dates and they are playing riot Friday
I did not expect Rage at Riot and MCR at Lolla. It works for me though because I have seen MCR but have never seen RATM.
