For sure, not a HUGE issue, but if that's the case I'll grab a lawn ticket for the Michigan date of the Blink tour just to be on the safe side. I was debating doing that anyway, haha.

I've done VIP every year I went, and it always feels worth it. It was definitely a much better value when you used to get a whole mess of drink tickets instead of a handful, but it still feels like I get my money's worth. But that's me and the way I do festivals. I generally try to get inside very early and make a full day of it (every day) to check out bands earlier in the day. So not having to stress about the line early on -- and having a shady place to rest early in the day is nice. Plus the shorter lines for bathrooms and food. Conversely, I did deluxe VIP last year and while I don't regret doing it... I don't know that it's worth the money. The free drinks was a nice perk, but it was kind of annoying to have to go back to the one section every time. And the free snacks were kinda bullshit (sweet, thanks for the Chex Mix and dollar store gummy snacks). The viewing areas at each of the main stages did make it really easy/fun to switch between stages and be able to be right up front... I can see how that would make a huge difference for some people. But for me? Not so much. If I wind up going next year, I will probably just go with regular ol' VIP again. It's been like, five years, and that's still the biggest "WTF?!!" as far as scheduling conflicts go that this festival has ever had. And I'm still convinced that somebody had to catch a flight or something immediately after for that to have happened.
im thinking for friday the main stage and its next door neighbor will be more traditional punk all day with Blink & Jawbreaker being the final two, and filled with the likes of rancid, pennywise, decendents, cock sparrer, hot water music, anti flag, h20 etc.. while one of the 2 middle stages is filled with quirkier bands ending with Lucero -> violent femmes -> Flaming lips, and the other mid-size stage is emo/screamo with dashboard, neck deep, senses fail, etc.. Curious where Glassjaw will fall in all of it as they are my number 1 must see that day (obviously)
Friday looks like the most fun and punk day. Sunday looks the most interesting. Saturday....not for me
yea i guess i dont really know them that well but i think they wouldnt be toooo out of place on that stage, if you toss in get up kids and/or hot mulligan too, i dont know, just seems like riot tries to theme some of their stages best they can, but there will always be outliers that have to go somewhere.
Saturday is going to be brutal for overlaps. Friday: Blink Dashboard Confessional Senses Fail Glassjaw Saturday: Slayer Bloc Party Die Antwoord Manchester Orchestra The Struts Senses Fail The Damned Things Cursive Sunday: Bikini Kill Taking Back Sunday The B-52s Against Me! American Football The Village People
I agree. Saturday is pretty much Manchester Orchestra and then a few bands I'd be interested in catching, but nothing I need to see.
Friday and Sunday would both be stacked for me, pretty much all day. No way I'd escape those days without at least one or two total bummer overlaps. Saturday has a few I'd be really stoked on seeing though: Rise Against, Bloc Party, Avail, PVRIS, Senses Fail, Turnstile, the Damned Things, Cursive, Masked Intruder, Drakulas, and Microwave. And I definitely wouldn't mind seeing Slayer, Anthrax, the Selecter, or Cherry Glazer.
no spoilers, but Anthrax and the Damned Things will probably not be playing at the same time on Saturday... you're welcome
did any bands get added? i feel like some did considering i don't remember a couple of them from the original announcement.
Give me an aftershow with any of AM!, ManOrch, White Reaper, the Damned Things, or Turnstile and we good
a Glassjaw aftershow in a tiny venue where they play Our Color Green + Coloring Book + Material Control all in full I can dream can't I
