Nice, so there's a connection there. Granted, he's grown exponentially since 2016 and his Lolla set last year was insane but this would be a good way to branch out a bit more and come back to hit Lolla again last year.
St. Vincent is one of my "Please one day" acts for Riot Fest. Doubt it's this year as it seems to be a quiet year for Annie but you never know.
Interesting interview with Robert Smith from Friday that seemed to slip under the RF rumor mill radar: The Cure to put on festival in U.S. this year, likely won't play 'Disintegration' after Sydney He also said in the interview that they have "one more" festival to announce this month and it's the one they are curating Not saying this totally rules them out for a surprise Riot Fest appearance, but they do seem unlikely now
For me, this not only makes them seem very unlikely. I was hinging their appearance at Riot Fest this year based on the fact that they said they would be doing X number of festivals in 2019, including some in the US. And between ACL and the one they're curating, and the talk about coming back to the US in 2020... That feels like it's probably it for this year, unfortunately.
Based on those Blink-182/Li'l Wayne tour dates, it looks like Blink are playing either Friday or Sunday. Probably Friday. But man, does headlining a show this year as part of a bigger co-headlining tour feel like much less of a "get" than it would have in 2018.
If not The Cure, is Bauhaus the next logical possibility? How credible was that rumor from last year I wonder?
As far as I know, it was a very credible rumor. But I really hope they don't try going that route again. Seems like he finally got his shit together as far as a visa goes... But still.
Bauhaus was definitely supposed to play, a leaked article from the Chicago Reader confirmed they were to headline (Sunday I believe). I personally hope they are not booked. Peter Murphy played a number of shows in the US this year celebrating "40 years of Bauhaus", so I feel a reunion just wouldn't have the same meaning as a band who hasn't done really anything related to their band in years. I also don't think they have a widespread enough fan base to justify headlining. I get they are popular enough, but I remember when they were leaked last year there were a lot of people who were not that enthused and talked about having the ability to leave the festival earlier.
Wouldn't be booking a tour if they weren't confident of being able to play after everything they had to go through last year. But at this point, blink isn't even a draw for me. So many Chicago festivals sets by them in the last five years...
I love certain eras of Blink, but I would honestly consider skipping their set for someone else, unless they end up doing Enema in full.
Same. There's just not enough reason for me anymore to miss someone else or go home early to beat the rush.
I think the Beach set was a dress rehearsal and we're getting Enema in full.. I'm guessing the big gimmick if there isn't the holy shit reunion will be 15 different full album sets for the 15th anniversary
They were a "nice to have" last year, but at the very least it was a "rare" performance for that year. They weren't touring much, they were between-albums, etc. I really hope Riot Fest was able to lock them down for an Enema of the State set. Otherwise, it's going to feel a little "who cares?"
I'd imagine it was a "dress rehearsal" of sorts, and that they might go heavy on Enema during the summer tour (not that they don't usually play nearly half that album in a set, anyway)... with Riot and maybe the Warped Tour shows being full album plays.
