I don’t think it is tbh, there’s gonna be a City and Colour record coming out around that time so idk if Dallas’ schedule would allow it. Would obv be very sick though
Is Manchester Orchestra out? Means Everything to Nothing turns 10 this year. Also, one final Balance and Composure date ?
Yeah I'm almost positive B&C had a hard enough time getting these shows together, let alone one last performance by itself in September. Unlikely, but who knows
Balance definitely not playing they said May 11 is their final show and they won’t add any after Manchester seems pretty likely to do that album I think
Why are there always predictions that Tears For Fears will play Riot Fest? Like, every single year their name comes up with a lot of regularity. And every year, the first time I see it I assume it's a joke. But it keeps coming up and for the life of me, I can't figure out why.
Not sure why they keep coming up, but I would enjoy seeing them. "Everybody wants to rule the world" and "Head Over Heels" are fucking jams. They also just got that sweet, sweet Weezer bump.
At least this year, they are touring the states a lot .. not sure if they will be here or Europe in September.
Because they’re too big, or their music isn’t the right vibe? I really only know the singles, but I’ve always felt like they were in the same vein as The Cure’s pop hits.
I'm not the biggest fan of Tears for Fears, but them playing an hour would be nothing but the hits... would love to hear Mad World and Sowing the Seeds of Love
I figured the Descendents were a given since they are working on new material and didn't play the last 2 years... Iron Chic would be sweet too.
I just think it's interesting that literally every year there's a bunch of people saying "This is the year!" The "Weezer bump" makes some sense this year, though... Mostly because it doesn't feel like the right vibe. It might also be an age thing where I've always just viewed them as a corny 80s band that wasn't to be taken seriously (as opposed to the Cure). Them playing would feel like (to me, anyway)... The time that Insane Clown Posse playing Bamboozle or something. "Sure, we'll book it. Because, y'know, irony." And Riot Fest usually steers clear of bookings that blatant. But. I could also be way off, which is why I asked.
Yeah Descendents play every 2-3 years so I was expecting them back this year, which will be tighttttttt
Social Distortion is playing Chicago a week before Riot, I think lots of fall tours will be announced in the coming weeks to help with speculation.. hoping we get the first wave for May 8 or 15
Looks like a lock for the Descendents. Iron Chic would be a sweet second stage band too! I mean, you have a point there. But the Pizza Underground is deliberately silly (see also: GWAR). Tears For Fears want to be taken seriously, but just... Aren't. But like I said, I might be missing something given my own personal experience with the band (and perhaps perception has changed in younger folks).
