I mean, I went to both shows they played in Chicago and there was definitely a lot of energy. Sure, they have some slower/softer songs, but so does someone like Father John Misty who played last year. Both have punk backgrounds so fit the atmosphere in that respect.
OH. Gotcha! I must’ve missed something earlier in this thread and couldn’t for the life of me figure out what it meant
Dropkick & Clutch played last year, so Riot probably didn't even try to book them.. heck of a show though
Flaming Lips new album out in July, could definitely see them and Raconteurs closing out the Saturday night main stage.. got a new update for this week Rusty?
I think the Flaming Lips have played at least five festivals I’ve been to, and I’ve never actually seen them due to schedule conflicts.
I saw more of them than I ever intended in 2014 when The National were running late on arriving to Humboldt Park.
I saw them covering David Bowie from afar while watching NOFX in 2016 (who may have had a larger crowd than the Lips, it was definitely crowded)
The Flaming Lips are honestly a great time live. But if they're playing I hope it's a Soft Bulletin show rather than just a normal Lips show. Would make it feel like there was a purpose rather than just tossing them on the lineup again like in 2016.
also, since it's the 15th anniversary.... if we aren't getting a huge reunion, i'll take 15 album plays
Seems that Frank Iero is a lock. No Chicago dates on the tour. Reggie and the Full Effect could be, too.
Makes sense. Potentially the start of a fall tour, because the current run ends in August. Which I think makes Reggie a little less likely, unless they add more dates? Wouldn't be a true Riot Fest thread without somebody saying "this is the year" for My Chemical Romance, Fugazi, Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys with Jello, and/or Operation Ivy.
