This article makes the Cure feel way less likely now.

Doesn't rule it out completely, as he's not saying anything too definitive. But makes it sound like they want to do their own thing.

The lineup for Fest is strong this year.
Depending on what Riot does this year I might end up bailing this year.

Honestly if you have to pick between the two Fest is better

I love both in different ways and always have a 10/10 time at both but Fest is definitely more special and there are 0 shitheads where as Riot has a growing population of shitheads

I want Spanish Love Songs and Planes Mistaken For Stars. Jawbox reunion would be cool too, but I guess that's a Fest exclusive for this year... maybe next year then

Spanish Love Songs seem like a pretty obvious add for the small stage this year

  6. Would love both of those too. I’m actually pretty confident that Spanish Love Songs will play since RF is presenting their show here next month (I know that’s not a guarantee but it’s a good sign).

Another strong wish for me is Park. They’re playing a punk fest in Bloomington in June, and they said they have more shows planned for this year.

The only thing that could really convince my is an MCR reunion at this point.

Jawbox is playing Chicago in late July

  9. The Get Up Kids’ summer tour skips Chicago and they played Wicker Park Fest last year, so I’m thinking they’re pretty likely.

Real question, do you think Blink or My Chem would have a bigger draw?

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I always thought of Blink as being the bigger band, but MCR would be a waaaayyy bigger draw, especially since their breakup was 6 years ago now, they hype would be up for a reuinion tour/show. Plus, I think a lot of people are kinda burnt out on new-Era Blink at this point, but I could be wrong

Didn't know that, as I'm not even from the US I didn't know they were playing shows already :/

I've noticed that Riot Fest tends to book the punk bands with "buzz" a year or so after the album comes out. That adds up for Spanish Love Songs.

Especially since they apparently have "big news" coming soon, which probably means a bigger label picked them up (my money is on Fat Wreck, but it could be anybody really).

Would make perfect sense that they'd play Riot this year instead of last too... Given that they have a full album to promote.

Overall, I think Blink-182 is the bigger band (in terms of notoriety, mainstream acceptance, etc). But a My Chemical Romance reunion set would be a much, much bigger deal than yet another Blink-182 festival set with "Feeling This" and "What's My Age Again?" as the first two songs.

At this point, though, I think MCR would be a much bigger draw. Nobody is flying out just to see Blink-182, but you would definitely get a shit-ton of people flying out for MCR.

Doubt it, I think if anyone was going to get them it would have been Lolla.

I just saw that the Taking Back Sunday tour in the fall has support from Red City Radio, it hits Missouri on 9/13 and nothing on the 14th & 15th. I'd be surprised if both bands aren't on Riot.

  17. Red City Radio is so good and it seemed like they were close to done for a while. Really happy they’re still touring and hopefully playing Riot.

Same! I have yet to see them, I've been out of town the last few times they've come through Chicago, and I rarely go out of town haha

They were pretty active last year!

But yeah both being on Riot will be awesome

Red City Radio don't join the TBS tour until October so they might not be at Riot Fest, TBS look like a lock.

The news around North Coast moving to Northerly Island has me wondering...

Could we see Riot Fest move to Union Park? It would mean they'd have to shrink it a bit but it would be a much better location.

As much as they probably wouldn't wanna move again, I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility. Ruido Fest moved to Union this year I believe.

I don’t think so. I hope not. I love how open Douglas is and Union Park would really cut down on the size of the headliner and number of stages they’d have. They’d have to cut the lineup in half.

I don't know a thing about Union Park, but I really love the space at Douglas. It's very open which makes it easy to navigate and switch between stages.
