I think there's a very high likelihood that they do at least a handful of other shows. Particularly if this one show sells out quickly and the whole thing goes over well/feels good. I feel like I've read that one line in the interview a dozen times in the last five years, haha. "Well, we can't say whether we'll do anything else or not. We'll see!"

A late afternoon/early evening set on that side stage would be amazing (along with an after show).

Haven't they toured that album like 3 times already? lol Nonetheless it would be a fun addition to Riot Fest. I still haven't seen it myself.

Just sitting thinking of some artists for this year I'm hoping for and think we may see (bolded names are ones I'm really expecting to see):

-Jenny Lewis: I've suspected her for a while, and she had to postpone her show in Chicago this weekend to a date I probably can't go, so now I'm really hoping she plays. It just make sense and seems like the right year for it.

-Justin Courtney Pierre: I doubt he'll do much touring this year since I think he's trying to spend more time at home and everything, but it would make sense for him to pop down to Chicago for the weekend for a Riot Fest slot and maybe an aftershow as well. It'll have been 3 (!!!) years since MCS's final appearance at the fest.

-Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers: I would guess that after this year, we see this project get put on hold as she returns focus to Against Me! (who I believe are recording). It's been 5(?) years since she's been on the fest. Would definitely make sense.

-The Story So Far: No immediate tour plans in Chicago, and skipping it on the Rockstar whatever its called fest. New album out. Seem like they'd make sense to play.

-Retirement Party: Rising Chicago pop-punk band. Would make a lot of sense for them to kick off the day.

-Every Avenue: They've been playing shows again, live nearby in Michigan. It'd be awesome to see them come play a nice afternoon set.

-Courtney Barnett: She'd fit in the indie rock slots that we've seen more of the last few years. In the midwest in June but skipping Chicago. Only reason I'm not sure is she's in Berlin the weekend before, and she's played Chicago 3 or 4 times since her last album came out. I could see it going either way, but I'll cross my fingers.

-Simple Creatures: I've brought this one up before, but it seems like an obvious choice with no Chicago date yet and blink-182 already playing. I could easily see them playing the fest and then probably an aftershow as well.

-All Time Low: Another one I've mentioned a few times, but with Alex already there, why not throw a bone and give us a 10-year Nothing Personal set. They've shown that they're not afraid of doing those as a treat, even if they don't do it as full tours. This would make up for me not being able to catch SWIR. Plus they have said their little hiatus is over, so I could see them playing a one off show while they finish up their new album and gear up for probably a pretty packed 2020 for the band.

-Museum Mouth: To my knowledge, they haven't been too active, but I think I've seen Karl from the band talk about writing the album. If that's coming this year, this could be a place for them to debut some new songs.

-Against Me!: Entirely dependent on where they are with their new album and everything, but I could see Laura pulling double duty and giving us two sets this Riot Fest.

-The Maine: One of those bands I keep hoping for and keep getting let down on, but one of these years it'll be right. Not entirely sure how likely it is with the Sad Summer Fest only a few months before. Maybe they'll be announced on the second wave?

-Danny Brown: A handful of tour dates this year. Not much to go on, but he'd make a lot of sense as the type of rapper they'd book, and he'd definitely enjoy the fest.

-Brockhampton: They'd make sense to play, but no activity confirmed for them this year, so who knows.

-Wallows: Sold out show in May at the Metro. A rising band. They'd make a lot of sense to come back this fall and play Riot Fest.

-Pup: One sold out Metro show in May. A second show was added. Poised for a huge year with their new album. They'd be a pretty huge draw at Riot Fest.

-Forever the Sickest Kids: Same reasoning as Every Avenue (except they're not from around here. Nonetheless.)

-Boygenius: Jk not going to happen I guess :( :(

-Better Oblivion Community Center: Two sold out shows at the Lincoln Hall. Big demand for them. They seem like a good fit.

-Punchline: They've been much more active lately, and seem like a good candidate to play an early in the day set. Perhaps even an Action 15-year anniversary set (although I'd rather they didn't do that).

-Ludo: They played St. Louis on Halloween and it was great. I'd love to see them play Riot Fest.

-The Flaming Lips: Playing Soft Bulletin in full in Europe in the beginning of September. I don't see why that doesn't come to the States as well. It'd make a lot of sense for that to be at Riot Fest.

-The Lawrence Arms: Played the first Riot Fest, played 2017 but not last year, from Chicago. Seems like an obvious choice.

I haven't really looked into activity of these bands this year, but being the 15-year anniversary fest, I could easily see: Bad Religion, NOFX, Descendents, Naked Raygun, Bouncing Souls, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, all those bands from the fest's history. It's a reach, but Dead Kennedys played the first Riot Fest, so if they're ever going to successfully pull of the reunion...

I could keep going but I'll leave it here for now.

Lucy said in an interview with Rolling Stone that Boygenius is only playing Woodstock this year, so they are 100% out.

Said this in the band-specific thread the other day but think White Reaper could be an add since they didn't announce anything near Chi for their summer tour and have a new album later this year.

I could definayely imagine Courtney Barnett playing this year. Seeing Lolla and Pitchfork didn’t get her

Bad Religion and the Bouncing Souls are all probably out because they played last year. I do think we'll see NOFX and the Descendents this year, and probably Rancid too. Not so sure about the Bosstones or what their plans are for the summer/fall beyond the small handful of shows they have scheduled.

As for the Dead Kennedys, I don't think that's going to happen. They haven't played with Jello since the mid-80s, and as recently as five years back (2014), Jello Biafra pulled out of a festival performance simply because DK was performing.

Never say never, but out of all the major reunions for them to pull off this seems like the one with the worst amount of bad blood (as opposed to say, My Chemical Romance, Fugazi, Minor Threat, or Operation Ivy where it's more of a "we get along fine but we just aren't in the mood" kinda thing). And with the "Dead Kennedys" touring this June? I'd say that's even more unlikely.

playing Tinley Park two weeks before Riot at 350 Fest V

also Jello turned down what was probably a six figure offer to play Riot with DK two years ago so... don't expect it
East Bay Ray says Riot Fest asked for Dead Kennedys reunion

Courtney Barnett is playing Lollapalooza Berlin a week before Riot, so I don't know if she will be back in the states, would be cool though.

Ah yea forgot those 2 played last year, like I said I didn't look too deep in, I was just trying to say I think there'll be a lot of those classic punk bands that have played since the fest started. I said Dead Kennedys cus they played the first Riot Fest, but I didn't realize that was without Jello (I don't know their history too well).

I'd throw Rancid into the mix as well as a very, very strong possibility for this year. I would guess/assume that NOFX, Rancid, and the Descendents are going to be the big punk acts toward the top of the poster this year.

And yeah, the DK/Jello thing is pretty brutal. There seems to be a lot of bad blood. To be honest, I would much prefer they book Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine instead. He's a much better performer and he plays a few Dead Kennedys songs, anyway.

All depends on whether or not they're active later this year... But I feel like that band is always saying they have music in the works that doesn't ever actually get recorded or released for another few years, so it's hard to say.

you know these punk festivals are becoming more and more of a thing...puts more pressure on riot to make sure their lineup remains "unique" in a sense of getting that big time woah act..along with a couple of curveballs.

Must be tough and expensive to keep throwing insane money at these acts. Being another "rancid/nofx/bad religion/blink" festival isn't gonna cut it anymore.

Green Day is the big time get they haven't gotten yet. Dookie 25 anniversary. It's gotta happen eventually.

My Chemical Romance is DEFINITELY in their back pocket eventually when it happens. Although i feel like if they were around, Kevin Lynman would've made an attempt at them for the warped stuff.

I'm predicting they DO go more heavy and more punk this year since last year they went a bit more alt/indie with their headliners.

Lyman did attempt to get MCR and he couldn't make it happen. I'm sure Riot Fest tried last year. This is in the "only a matter of time" category for me. Probably when all of the band members have free time lined up. I don't even think it's a money thing.

I would love for that Green Day/Dookie thing to happen, but I just don't see it going down. I would love to be proven wrong, though. I think they want to do something big to celebrate that record's anniversary... But I don't see them doing a full tour and Riot Fest would be a perfect spot. But I dunno.

I really hope they lean harder into heavier and/or punk music this year, though.

I wish they would switch back to the two-stage set-up in that smaller area so they could up the number of "smaller" bands like this they could fit on the bill.
