They just played here. Shortly after they cancelled the remainder of the tour due to vocal cord injury.
They are playing like 4 or 5 other Lolla's, I'm kind of inclined to think they will be playing Chicago's as well.
Well, those Taking Back Sunday dates make them a lock for Riot Fest. Wonder how they'll deal with the album plays. I could see them doing one at the festival itself and another at an after show.
Posted in the TBS thread too, but my best guess is they play TAYF at Riot and do an aftershow to play the other 2. Or they get multiple sets at Riot.
I could definitely seeing them closing out a stage one night with Tell All Your Friends, and then maybe doing one of the other albums on a different day -- maybe late afternoon or something? Actually, that would be nice. I know this isn't a new statement but it sucks that they always conflict with other headliners each year.
They're 100% playing I looked closer at the dates and there's no way they are just starting in the Midwest on 9/13 and then taking 6 days off before going full tour mode lol It's also possible they just do aftershows, as they've done that before for Riot Fest. Maybe they just do the normal 2 nights in Chicago but just bill it as a part of Riot Fest.
It was really, really interesting the last time TBS did 2 shows at Riot. They closed out on Saturday then they played the smallest stage early on Sunday. They were all super hungover, upfront about it, and almost treated their 30 min set like a loose band practice. It was super humanizing.
How interesting. There's such a difference between that hungover 11AM set and a full on headlining show from them. lol
Didn't TAYF come out 17 years ago and the Riot album shows are usually specific anniversary dates in the 5 year increments. .. obviously it could be an exception tho
Yea I mean in this situation I'm just looking at what the band is doing this year with their 20th anniversary. I can't imagine they do a normal set at Riot when everywhere else across the country they are doing these album shows. If they're just playing one album at RF, it makes most sense to me that it would be TAYF. I don't think they've ever done it there before either.
Yea there's been exceptions like that & Astro Creep 2000, but more than likely TBS just plays a regular set.. all the better if I'm wrong, also Rancid seems really really likely after a comment made by lars on instagram
I think Lars said something similar about the same time last year about how excited Rancid was to come back to Chicago in September. But they weren't active at all last year, and they're clearly going to be touring a bunch this year... So yeah. That comment (saying a Chicago date would be coming) definitely makes me think they're very very likely this year.
