Lol. I think you may need some sleep! Although I will say the fact that the stage layouts were identical 2016 and 2017 helps the years bleed together more than past ones. I sometimes have a hard time remembering when certain sets were because of that.

Have to go to a wedding the weekend after this, but there’s enough on here that I want to go to one day, maybe an after show. Another solid year.

Yea that’s definitely what it is. The Wonder Years played the same stage as the Menzingners and Say Anything last year so I think I just lump them all together like they played the same year.

Also somewhat surprised to see Young the Giant as a headliner, although it’s entirely possible that I’m missing something.

I was there too. I swore they said something along the lines of “this is our last show.” But I bet they’re getting the right price to come back.

I hope blink changes up their set list from last year when they where here for lolla and the after show and throw in some deep cuts they never play. I’m sick of seeing a greatest hits with a few new songs set list

still taking it all in as a whole, but on the initial read through i fist pumped to myself for: Blink, dropkick, Matt & Kim, cypress hill, bouncing souls, Wolfmother, Aquabats....

lot of great older punk bands, but also lot of younger radio rock. Barely any ska, hip hop, or post hardcore/scene stuff, not as heavy in general as previous years. Very Happy overall, a few I’m holding out hope for on 2nd wave.

That’s pretty cool, speaking of that I was really hoping for Pup or Jeff Rosenstock

They set the bar too big on previous lineups. It's a very fun good solid alternative punk festival... but nothing woahhhhhh for the most part.

Riotfest definitely grabbed a bunch of female acts though so that's cool

I’m not expecting anything out of the second wave since last year was so disappointing but here is my wish list

    Every Time I Die
    Joyce Manor
    Jeff Rosenstock
    Pup
    Run The Jewels
    Now, Now
    The Dirty Nil
    Lemuria
    Rancid

    Turnstile
    Touché Amore

Solid lineup for me this year. Nothing too special but it's enough to make it a solid weekend.

And no Limp Bizkit or Smash Mouth!

    Regular

    Need to see:
    Alkaline Trio
    Blink 182
    Sum 41
    Suicidal Tendencies
    GWAR
    Lagwagon
    the Bouncing Souls

    Would like to see:
    Dropkick Murphys
    Bad Religion
    Bullet for my Valentine
    The Exploited
    Andrew WK

    If Possible:
    Flogging Molly
    Underoath
    Wolfmother
    FEAR
    Face to Face
    Adolescents
    Lower Class Brats
    Total Chaos

All in all, not bad. I live kinda far from Chicago so I probably won't go, but it'd be a fun show if I did. Do you think maybe, just maybe, Blink would reunite with Tom as a surprise type thing? Like totally unadvertised, but he just walks on out?

It's odd how many festivals they are playing. They just played Slam Dunk on one of the two main stages, and some of my friends wanted to see them on the Monday (I like the music but didn't really want to support them). What I will say is that they got the biggest non headline crowd. I'm not sure it has truly affected their popularity and I think festivals will have seen that and unfortunately will continue to book them.

Also, I planned to weave Riot Fest into a holiday but it looks like I'll probably make that next year. This doesn't have enough for me to spend that much flying out.

I know nothing about this band so forgive my ignorance on it but I read on their Wikipedia that they kicked out their drummer for sexual harassment , but if they kicked out the bad egg why are people still not wanting the band booked, is there more to it?

Yes. The singer also stole nude photos from a girl’s phone and sent them to the rest of the band in a group chat. They have been trying to silence her ever since she spoke up about it.

  23. Didn't Jerry Lee Lewis marry his 13 year old cousin or something like that? Him, Moose Blood and Piebald should get their own stage where the crowd has to stand 50+ yards from the stage.

Yes, he absolutely did. I haven’t checked to see if anyone on their page has commented on this yet. I wanted to do it right when the lineup was posted but I didn’t have the energy to deal with arguing with anybody on FB.

Not a "must see" for me with the headliners, which is totally great and gives me the option to leave early every day (old man post).

Still, lots of great bands that I'll want to see. And Spitalfield reunites for a show every 2-3 years, which is an amazing perk of living in Chicago haha.
