    Recording a new album

  2. I wonder how much the next wave of tickets is gonna go up from the initial price... I talked my girlfriend into flying out there with me but when I went to double check the ticket prices, they weren’t on sale anymore. Poop.

The announcement is so funny with the warning of “ok to announce on May 30th” right there next to the date, can’t tell if they didn’t notice or just said ‘screw it, post it anyways”

Nothing is more punk rock than announcing your major US festival appearance ahead of schedule.

Chances of The Interrupters playing this year? One of the few bands that I would travel for. Also Youth Brigade, although I don't see that happening.

they are playing the chicago warped date so idk if that puts them out or not

I don’t think Warped should be in the way of anything. GWAR played Warped last year and still played Riot Fest

GWAR is probably an exception. But I don't know enough about the traditional overlap between Warped Tour and Riot Fest to say whether it would make a difference or not...

With Warped Tour too, for bands like GWAR or the Interrupters, I feel like they'd be a bigger draw for Riot Fest (i.e., a person going to Warped Tour for the Interrupters or GWAR is probably going to Riot Fest anyway if they're in the area) versus a band like Real Friends or whatever.

They usually announce the second wave after the Chicago date and it usually includes some warped bands, so I don’t think they’re worried about overlap.

I feel like somebody earlier in the thread mentioned Gorillaz as a possibility... And with a new album coming out in June now, I think that's a possibility!

I could see them doing Riot Fest as one of very few US performances. With Riot Fest being announced this week and a few other US dates closer to the album release.

Also: I know Slayer was previously thought to be unlikely because they just played Chicago, but anybody thinking they might be added now that the Chicago date's passed? I could see it being a "final US performance" addition or something like that.

I mean, if it's going to happen it kinda has to be tomorrow. Haha. They don't always do one, though I kinda hope they do. Last year's was all sorts of fun and the one they did a year or two before that wit hRise A

I don't think Slayer will play their last US show this year. They still have to tour Europe, Asia, Australia and Latin America before calling it quits, and then return to the US and Canada for their final shows

Also I think Slayers final show will be way too big to happen at Riot Fest they’ve got some pretty devoted fans

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Slayer will have some sort of massive LA or SoCal show as their final show, honestly

Okay, so I'll rule that one out... Man, I can't wait to see what they come up with this year! Hopefully we get a teaser or something tomorrow. Otherwise it's going to be a long-haul to Wednesday.

Any guesses on the announcement time? Probably the usual 10am CET, right?

I know some of these people/groups were discussed previously, so I think we can confirm they’re all out

Weird, why do I recall this poster/event originally being an April Fools prank? Didn’t know it became a real thing.

Apparently last night at Punk Rock Bowling, Cobra Skulls said they were announcing another show "at the end of the summer" on Wednesday. Seems like a lock to me... Unless the Fest has an announcement of some sort, hah.

Pretty sure it was real from the jump, haha. I'm honestly a little bummed we definitely won't be getting a Cypress Hill Black Sunday set for sure now...

Figures. Right about the time I have my first meeting of the day for work... I'm assuming tickets won't go on-sale until 12 noon, though.

I wonder why they're doing it a little earlier than usual this year (timewise).
