Looks like all ticket types are still at the first price this morning. I guess a lot more people are worried about the lineup than I might have guessed.

    Things have changed.

They are already doing a '59 Sound show in Chicago a month earlier, so most likely not.

But that is a show that sold out very quickly. It’s odd that they added more dates for other cities but not Chicago.

That is why some are thinking it’s possible.

That and the festival market has tanked. Look how long it took Lollapalooza to sell their weekend passes this year.

They've played Lollapalooza in late July/early August and then Riot Fest a month or so later. It's not unheard of.

Have they done a release of tickets just prior to show announcement in years past? My memory is of them announcing and then having a ticket release time shortly after. Kinda worried about the lineup if this is a new tactic and I don't want to dole out cash for non-refundable tix only to get a lineup I'm not super into, but would also be nice to get in while they're tiered so low.

This. Chicago is their last show on their tour and they could add more dates when their show sold out, as they did it in another cities, but they didn't. It's odd and I really hope its because they will play it at Riot

And as someone else said, in 2012 they played Lollapalooza and Riot, so its not impossible

You could always get one and if you don’t like the lineup sell it on stub hub

I don't think they've done this before. Usually the line-up gets announced and tickets go on-sale an hour or so later...

But I'm also pretty sure most festivals do, so I'm going to reserve motive on the judgement for the rationale until I see the line-up. Haha. It could just be them trying to move tickets/get people to book before the announcement purely based on time, trying to keep up with other fests, etc. It could also be lack of confidence in the line-up, but I'm really thinking it's the former.

Riot Fest doesn't play the game the way most do, but the last few years they've definitely edged more in that direction (e.g., deluxe VIP).

Pre-sale tickets are officially sold out as per Twitter and the Ticketfly site. Tickets will go on-sale the same day as the announcement next Wednesday.

I don't really get why everyone is so worried about the line up. I mean I'm not even saying it's guaranteed to be good, but what's different this year that has everyone so worried? Other than our speculation in this thread which could easily be 100% wrong, especially when we're talking about Riot Fest.

Especially when most of the speculation has been about the top two lines. They always have album plays and rare acts on the undercard too that make it worth it. Honestly, I was thinking yesterday, it is going to be really hard for them to continue to have headliners I care about seeing without having a big reunion every year or starting to have repeats. I think Green Day is just about the last feasible non-reunion headliner they have left that would get me very excited.

thats an interesting point, eventually (next 3-5 years maybe) they have to do 1 of 3 things: 1)bring back repeat headliners, 2) widen their scope of headliners they can book from other genres, or 3) possibly downsize so they can allow bands that arent quiiiite headline status to become headline status (like rancid/new order/paramore level acts). i honestly couldt tell which i would prefer, probably 1 or 3... and i doubt they would ever do 3 unless they have to..

edit - option 4 is grow bigger and to get bigger bookings like metallica, muse, radiohead, etc..

These are both really good points. I think the “headliner” focus is mostly due to that being the easiest to speculate. Undercard acts are usually out of the blue anyway because they haven’t announced fall tours yet, etc. Especially the punk acts that would get me excited.

Green Day is definitely the last one that would get me all sorts of excited too. I’ve never seen them at a festival and I feel like it would be a blast.

Option 4 is way more limiting and honestly, I think it hurts most of the bigger festivals. There’s only so many bands of that size to go around.

I’d be into 1 and 3... But I also think option 3 would be cool too. Especially if the headliner were a younger rock act. Give ‘em a shot.

Kind of a spinoff of 1) is potentially upgrading bands that were non-headliners in previous years to headliner status, kinda like how bands would move up Warped stages over the years. I dunno who in past lineups would work for that, but it's also an option.

I've been saying this for a couple years, but bring on the repeats, man. I don't care if the lineup is just a mish-mosh of the past years, as long as it's bands I enjoy, I'll be there.

I hope if they start doing repeats they can convince them to do something special like an album set. I would love a Mosfits Static Age set or a (much less likely to happen) Blink Enema of the State Set.

Album plays absolutely makes repeat headliners a lot easier to swallow and opens up tons of cool options.

From what I understand, the Misfits completed their contracted performances with their NJ show. If they do have more shows, they'll probably avoid doing Riot Fest again and play overseas.

An full Enema perform could totally be possible for next year (2019 = 20th anniversary of the album)

Mark did an interview about the Las Vegas residency recently, and he said they're talking about it/planning to do it in the future. So that's definitely a possibility (probably for next year).
