Was just going to post this. That tour hits a lot of major cities and completely ignores the midwest. Wouldn't be surprised to see Reggie & The Full Effect on it as well.

 

Although I actually have a feeling The Flaming Lips might play North Coast this year.

 

So. What are we thinking for an announcement date? Wednesday, April 18th?

The Riot Fest e-mails have started to become more frequent, they sent out that one e-mail today about "fake bands that should play Riot Fest," etc.

Curious to see if they do a teaser video again this year... Those are always fun. Annoying. But fun.

 

That live reveal last year with the big notepad was a shitshow, but part of me thinks that was intentional.

 

I'm never a big fan of those "live reveal" things. They always feel half-assed, and not very compelling. Teaser videos and all that is fine.

But when it comes time for the announcement? Give me a fun/interesting reveal video with some music video clips and a big voice announcing the headliners or whatever... And/or a poster with all the band names... And I'm good.

 

Think it’s too soon for Motion City?

 

Feels way too soon. It's been what? Two years? I'd be legitimately bummed if they came back already. It would feel like a planned thing of "Let's break-up and get back together to get more money 'reuniting' at festivals!"

 

You literally watch paint dry for Pitchfork's announcement, which will forever be the worst.

 

Check back in 2020 or 2025. I bet they’ll come back and do CTTM in full.

It doesn't matter who else is on the bill, if Saves the Day plays, I'm going.

The Promise Ring would do it for me this year.

 

The Fest announcement looks pretty cool. Definitely hoping to see Cursive and Broadway Calls On Riot Fest as well.

 

Lagwagon playing Lets Talk About Feelings would make sense here as well

 

I love Saves the Day but i saw them over summer. I think Chris is going through some shit, he was out of his mind and didnt even know the songs they were playing. They had a 20 minute jam session.

End of the day, it was a pretty good show still. Played the hits.

 

I always hope for lagwagon to play, so hopefully this will be the year. I also wouldn't mind Tsunami Bomb playing too.

 

Looks like The Offspring are out. Sept 6th with 311 and Gym Class Heroes.

 

Who the hell is going to play this festival? I feel like every day we learn of more people NOT playing without finding any possible options.

 

Also with Audio Karate playing Fest can they come to Riot Fest too?

 

Obviously this means that the headliners are actually Talking Heads, Op Ivy, and Minor Threat. They don't have any tours to give away that they are skipping Chicago.

Honestly though, this lineup seems like it is going to be a big surprise. Hopefully it will be good surprise and not a disappointing one.

Edit: I am also shocked that The Offspring isn't doing a 20th anniversary tour for Americana. I figured even if they weren't playing it at Riot Fest they would play it on tour.

 

Yeah I really feel like this year will either be totally full of my favorites and come out of nowhere to blow me away, or be the first year where I don’t make the trip.

 

I can see System of a Down and incubus being headliners

System would be awesome but they just headlined a few years ago so I doubt it
