Has this world stopped asking what it's thinking?

I want RTJ and Shredders to feed my hip-hop needs at Riot. B-)

I hope Vince Staples plays, as well as RTJ. Also waiting for them to bring Flatbush Zombies. They played Denver once I believe, but not Chicago.

Speaking of Denver, do we think it's safe to assume that's over? Or do we see it come back this year? (I can't remember if they said they were only skipping it last year or for good.)

    Really want Vince

I’m assuming Brockhampton will be Lolla but they’d be an awesome one for Riot too

Since RTJ did Lolla last year, I'd say they're in for Riot Fest. Unless they're just not doing any touring or whatever around that time... I could really do without Flatbush Zombies. Saw them at Boston Calling and it was such a bore, hah.

I feel like they're done. Didn't they have a hard time locking down a location for that one too?

I think Rancid will definitely play too they haven’t in a few years

Run the Jewels could be North Coast too, or their own headliner, but it would make a lot of sense for them to do Riot Fest. I'm not sure if they're on other line ups or not this year. I've never seems Flatbush so I'll take your word for it. I'm not a huge fan but I enjoy them when I listen and they seem like they'd fit.

And yea they did. I think it's done (and selfishly kind of hope so so that RF is a Chicago exclusive Fest), but I also feel like they left it open that it might come back.

I know I'm in the minority here (and I know it won't happen), but I'm kinda hoping they do a 20-year thing for Life Won't Wait sometime, somewhere this year. Haha.

I feel like that will definitely be happening at Rock Fest (and we'll know for sure tomorrow at noon).

Good call with North Coast; they haven't played before and they'd be a perfect fit for a sub-headliner from the looks of it. I still think they'd be a better fit for Riot Fest though (especially since they did at least one of those "active rock" festivals last year, as well as a KROQ show--they seem to be branching out). They're opening for Lorde this spring, which ends in mid-April... So could be.

I definitely feel you with wanting RF to be a Chicago exclusive festival, but I'm not gonna lie... I've been waiting/hoping for a bigger more "rock"-oriented festival to happen in the northeast, but it hasn't happened yet. Haha. If it were to happen with the Riot Fest brand, I'd be so pumped. Haha.

So I haven't seen it mentioned in this thread yet, but Superfly's big new festival in Denver called Grandoozy is happening these same dates, September 14-16. I hope that doesn't affect the amount of rock acts at that festival. And also I think that really means Riot Fest will not be back in Denver anytime soon.

Looks like it's put together by the same people who do Bonnaroo and Outside Lands, so I wouldn't anticipate a whole ton of overlap this year. Might influence some of the hip-hop acts that gets booked, though (i.e., might be a bummer for anyone hoping for Vince Staples at Riot).

My mind also forgets to calculate that both are 3 day festivals, and nothing would actually prevent an act from playing both festivals because they could be playing different days of the week at each festival. >-p

Well, let's hope Riot Fest had an easier time getting headliners than Rock Fest. Huge dip this year: Prophets of Rage, Weezer, Five Finger Death Punch, Godsmack, Tenacious D, and A Day to Remember. Oof.

No real "hints" as to who we might anticipate for Riot Fest (i.e.,no remarkable rare or reunion performances, at a headliner or undercard level, that fit Riot).

Is there typically a correlation between Montebello and Riot Fest's lineups?

Oh wow those would be real disappointing headliners, but I can't really imagine Riot going with any of those. Most of them have played before and not been headliners.

This is making me think Sum 41 is definitely likely this year. I'd love to get All Time Low, but I can only really see it happening if it's because they play SWIR (which seems unlikely) hope they also scoop up Propaghandi (Seems very likely) and Every Time I Die (also likely).

It's pretty common that we share acts with them, but not an overwhelming amount. Queens of the Stone Age, At the Drive In, Pennywise last year for example.

Based off Rockfest these seem realistic (if there is usually overlap I don't remember)

    Tenacious D
    Jimmy Eat World
    Stone Temple Pilots
    Sum 41
    Rancid
    All Time Low
    The Used
    Lagwagon
    Millencolin
    Propaghandi
    Story Of The Year
    Every Time I Die
    Comeback Kid
    Counterparts
    Guttermouth
    Mustard Plug
    DJ Yella

plenty of those bands are on this year or are biannual staples. lagwagon, millencolin, jew, and sum 41 would be great though

YES! Looks like it's time to re-download it. It was VERY useful last year and I highly recommend it.

This is coming sooner than I realized! I forgot they moved up the announcement last year. Assuming the app message wasn't just completely random, my guess is this was a 1-month(ish) heads up and they'll announce at least part of the lineup 4 weeks from today (Wednesday, April 11th).

Last year was 4/19 so we're definitely about a month out

Last years second wave of bands was so disappointing that I'm just gonna not even care this year that a second wave is coming
