That sounds like it'd be a lot of fun My favorite place to go after Riot Fest is still Five Star Bar when they bring in the guest DJ's
Does anyone else want to meet the Riot Fest Twitter person and buy them a beer? They went off on kids doing homework last night which made me laugh pretty hard. One tweet suggested that CM Punk does their Twitter page and it would be hilarious if it was.
The Sublime with Rome/The Offspring tour hits Chicago the week before Riot Fest so we can count them out.
Can't say I'm too upset by that. I don't have anything against Tool, but I'm not very familiar with them and would rather a different headliner take their spot.
Kind of regret not watching them when they played 3 years ago but the rain was so awful and I was so miserable and cold that it just was not worth it
Shh the less that's said about Riot Fest '14 the better. Fun weekend overall, but the Friday rain & the weekend long mud pit it caused, plus the shit show layout are things I'd rather never remember
Best lineup imo but worst in literally everything else. Rain, layout, the fucking bees from Saturday. Would have been my favorite year if not for the rain/mud pits of the first two days. Sunday was still the most stacked festival bill I've ever seen for one day, Weezer should not have been on that stage though.
Oh yea the lineup was unquestionably great. I had a terrible experience with the people around me in the Weezer crowd, but they were good. Kind of regret not seeing the Cure though.
That Weezer crowd may be the worst crowd I've ever been in. Also the weather on Friday, as others have said, was absolutely terrible, after PBTT I dipped so I could recover for the next 2 days
Out of curiosity, what issue did you have with the Weezer crowd? I agree it was terrible. Half the people weren't that into it, and then some people were and thought apparently it meant they were crucial to the chemistry of the crowd. I was sandwiched between two groups and if me or my friend so much as bumped either of them they got sooo pissy. Very unpleasant experience.
Well right after Cheap Trick ended everyone charged the stage, so for about an hour my friend and I were completely jammed, unable to even turn around or reposition ourselves. There was a lot of people yelling at each other as well b/c of that rush. Once the show started it just got even worse, I've never involuntarily covered that much ground during a set. We went from probably being 30 rows back for Cheap Trick, pushed to 15 after their set, and then pushed at least 50-60 back by the time the Blue Album portion had started
Yeah that Weezer crowd sucked, no one around me was into it and I didn't get up into the front until their last song. But still my favorite festival moment was seeing Menzingers and Bouncing Souls back to back Sunday morning. Bummed I had to miss TFB but that was the best Souls show I may have ever seen
Very interesting it sounds like the Weezer crowd was polar opposite depending on where you were haha I thought the crowd was so dull around me and were being way too uptight, but it sounds like it would've been brutal up in the front too, just in a different way.
I feel bad about that and missing a couple other headliners, but all things considered it was still a fantastic weekend. Restorations closed with Adventure Tortoise for crying out glavin.
2014 was such a great year even with the shitty weather. Title Fight and the Hotelier played such great sets
