RIOT FEST CHICAGO 2017 EARLY BIRD PRESALE - Tickets - Douglas Park - Chicago, IL - September 15th, 2017
I can't believe tickets are still on the second price tier. I'm definitely going to buy them soon but I know as soon as I go to do it they will be third price tier
I flew in from Texas for the first time last year and here's a few tips: 1. Hotels are pricy and will get pricier the longer you wait to book. As long as you book something by a train station you will be good, as the public transportation system in Chicago is awesome. Closer to the airport will get you the cheapest prices. You can also try Airbnbs, though we did that and our host cancelled on us the week of the trip and we were screwed and forced to spend 800 bucks on a hotel. 2. Depending on where you are flying from, look at flights from spirit and southwest. Flying spirit isn't a pleasant experience at all, but you can really save some money. 3. If possible make sure your hotel has a microwave or some sort of kitchen function. I found that I was broke from eating out by the end of the trip. 4. Plan ahead with stuff like flasks / alcohol / etc if you plan on sneaking it in to the fest. Again, we didn't think of it and had to scramble in Chicago and pay a premium on some items. Me and my friend had a blast last year and are planning on coming back this year, so it's definitely worth your while if you are interested and can afford it.

Nothing better than walking past the bar and buying fountain coke for $3 before blasting 8 ounces of booze in there
We are staying in Chicago, cannot believe how expensive it is, i suppose a lot of it is down to a really bad exchange rate at the minute. I am really hoping for an awesome line-up as this is the first festival i have ever been to without knowing who is playing!
Thanks for all of the tips! Looks like it's around $400 round trip for plane tickets which isn't too bad at all. Hotel will definitely be my most expensive expense. I'm hoping I can find something for around 500 for 4 nights. I don't drink, but I am wondering. How strict is security with it comes to weed? I'm used to things being super relaxed when it comes weed since I'm from Oregon so I want to know if it's better not to partake or if I'll be fine sneaking some in haha
Not too strict from what I have seen. I have never smoked at Riot Fest, but I see tons of people who do every year.
I will be partaking this year haha Just make sure it's hidden well. A lot of the security are cool, but schemers. They found a flask on my friend last year and said if he gave them $30 he could keep it lol, same thing happened with someone else I knew
We stayed at the Quality Inn by the Midway airport last year. Can't say I exactly recommend it, but it was around $500 total for our 4 nights (although we ended up only paying around $350 because of some issues we had with the room.) Staying closer downtown this year so we're paying a little more this year and staying an extra night, but it's going to be great!
Well, we can probably count out Reel Big Fish, Face to Face, and The Stereo because they are playing 350Fest a month before.
Soundgarden announced a Mid-West tour with no Chicago date, so I wouldn't be too surprised if they are playing Riot Fest or Lolla.
I bought tickets to see Luke Bryan in Tinley Park on the 16th. Hopefully the lineup isn't good that day. I might skip it anyways.
Can count out Jeff Rosenstock, American Football and Pinegrove all are playing Pitchfork Jeff definitely would have done better at Riot, I'm bummed
I did see them smelling some sunscreen bottles on day 1 last year... probably something to do with the lack of sun.
They also make little glass flasks that come in a tampon wrapper. For some reason, masculinity is so fragile that security sees them and just swerves away. I've had nothing but success throwing them in my friends bags and getting them in at shows and fests.
Even though Rancid is playing Chicago over the summer I can still hope for an op ivy reunion, right?!
I am hoping for Transplants, Blink and Rancid's announced tour schedule will be over and Travis did hint at some Transplants related stuff later in the year
