I think QOTSA's Domesticated Animals is the single song I'm most looking forward to seeing this weekend. And they're my 2nd most anticipated set behind Paramore. Actually I'm probably most excited for After Laughter songs, then Domesticated Animals. I'm so hyped right now. One work day left!
I've never seen Queens of the Stone Age live before, so most of their set is likely going to be a highlight for me. Haha. That being said, I am really looking forward to "The Evil Has Landed." That song is a jam.
Yea me neither, and honestly a month ago I would've said obviously I was most excited for the old hits and stuff, but then Villains came out. It'll all be great though. The Evil Has Landed is a jam and half, that one will be awesome too.
Plugging my show/emo night at Burlington one more time for anyone in town tonight. Guest DJs from the Get Up Kids, The Anniversary, and Boys Life in the front room, three cool Chicago bands (Pelafina, Retirement Party, and Bloodsport: The Movie The Band) playing in the back. PBR hosted bar from 9-10. And I think it's all free!
I need you guys to decide something for me: Danzig or Lawrence Arms? I don't really listen to either. I was going with Lawrence Arms just for the Chicago love, and because I've at least listened to Oh, Calcutta! a couple of times (I've never listened to Danzig III). But I feel like Danzig may be a more entertaining person to see without knowing his songs. Help a guy out.
They're one of those bands I've liked every time I listen to them and have just been stuck in limbo on my list of bands to devote more time to.
My vote is for Danzig. Danzig is my most anticipated set of the weekend, which you could probably discern from my avatar haha. Riot Fest is his only set performing Danzig III on his entire tour. I have been a huge fan of The Misfits / Samhain / Danzig since I was 13 years old. Can't wait for this one.
Actually not a terrible idea. I didn't realize they were at that time. I've been hearing a lot about them, and I like going to that stage and chilling on the little hill. Thanks for making this even more difficult.
I'm guessing both of these have been asked, but I can't remember the answer... I can just use my phone for my ticket, right? How tight is security? How easy would it be for me to sneak in some booze? What's your strategy for that? Thanks for the help, can't wait for tomorrow!
Well in 2014 I smuggled in booze by going in to the fest, walking up to the fence and having my friend toss stuff over, basically right in front of security (although I think they've stepped things up a little since then).
The Lawrence Arms! But they're an all-time favorite for me... On album and live. And "Calcutta" is an a amazing record. So. I'm biased.
Danzig came out in support of Donald Trump's Muslim ban if that helps you at all. Even if that wasn't the case, I'd still say see Lawrence Arms. Or maybe use that time to eat and look at merch?
I've had success wrapping a mickey in a windbreaker rolled up in my backpack, they feel around a bit in the bag but wont be able to tell there's a bottle in there. Also - I'm remembering "mickey" is a Canadian term. I don't know what you people call a 13oz bottle.
Yea I was listening to it today. It is really good. Tough decisions. Probably leaning towards TLA, or at least them for a little bit then go catch some of the Regrettes. I feel like normally that would bother me, but I can't take Danzig seriously enough to really care about his opinions on anything like that, if that makes sense. Like it's just comical to me (Danzig not the Muslim ban)
I've always called in a tenth since it's basically half of a fifth, but Mickey is far better lol. I forget the Canadian term for a .7 L bottle
