All Time Low vs. Basement killed me last year. Descendents vs. Brand New would've been brutal, but luckily I had tickets to see Brand New in October, and I'd never seen Descendents, which made that pretty easy (and I still got to catch the last 2 songs of Brand New - I didn't even realize I was by their stage, and then I was like holy shit this is Brand New and I got real excited).

Side note: with PVRIS apparently prepping for new music, I would not be at all surprised to see them on the 2nd wave. I'm reasonably confident we'll see them, Front Bottoms, and Sum 41 added.

haha it's funny, it all depends who you ask (about jawbreaker headlining). i talked to a few people who are huge jawbreaker fans and they say them headlining is a no brainer. You're literally going to get people from around the world to see them. Whereas you won't get that with most of the people on this show. for many Jawbreaker fans, this is a dream come true.

Them headlining....it makes sense guys haha. ESPECIALLLLLLLY since this is a "punk" festival at its core roots.

Seriously! All the other bands near the top have toured pretty consistently. People don't have to make the trip to Riot Fest if they want to see them at some point. For all we know, this could be Jawbreakers only show. I mean, you would think that it wouldn't be, but I would have said the same thing about the Misfits last year and they sure haven't signaled doing anything else together since Riot Fest. I met people that traveled for a showoff reunion where they opened for mxpx for crying out loud. Of course people are going to travel for Jawbreaker! It just seems all the people that are convinced that Jawbreaker can't possibly be a headliner have never been into Jawbreaker. Ok rant over.

I'm very much into Jawbreaker, and still don't see them as a headliner on the level as the others, but sure, assume that I don't think they're big enough to headline because I don't like them.

I'm not trying to say that they will be the biggest headliner. But others keep saying how paramore should be above them, completely ignoring the fact that new order is also listed above paramore.

So I'm fine with saying that they are smaller for a headliner. I was more talking about the people that act as if there is no way that they could possibly be the third headliner and keep trying to say oh maybe this band will be announced as a headliner when I think it is pretty clear that isn't happening.

in a festival setting i think jawbreaker will pull more than paramore even if they aren't a bigger band

I still think Paramore will have a bigger crowd, but I fully understand the reason the organizers went this way. The only reason I care about this at all is I hope they don't try to pull some sort of dual headliner thing and put Paramore and Jawbreaker on at the same time, which I don't think they will.

I think only one band played at the same time as Misfits last year and it was only the first 15-30 mins of the set. So I'd assume the same thing

Paramore will probably close out the 2nd main stage and Jawbreaker will play right after them. I think the worst case scenario would be to put Paramore on the Rock stage (or the stage that's completely out of the way). Also, do we know for certain that Paramore is playing on Sunday? Haha

Can't they still technically be a "headliner" and still be playing the same time as two other bands, right? They will almost definitely close out one of the stages.

They definitely won't draw as well as Nine Inch Nails, QOTSA, Paramore, New Order, or whoever...

But it makes sense that their name is at the very top. It's a special, special thing. And as somebody said before, I'm sure folks are flying in from all over the world for it.

Nope, I personally am hoping they're closing out a stage on Friday.

I'd assume Paramore, ADTR and TBS will headline the same stage over the 3 nights

I just looked on Paramore's website and they have the Friday date listed on their tour dates. I'm not looking too much into it just because it's the first day of the festival but you never know.

Why are we assuming Paramore is playing Sunday?

I have no idea what day they'll play, the only reason I brought that up is because I guess in my head it would make sense to have 2 smaller headliners play against each other so there are effectively 2 headliners. But that's honestly not even what historically happens at RF.
This is exactly what I'm afraid of. I'd love to see TBS, but they always get shafted on that stage. I'll be crushed if I have to choose between Paramore and one of the headliners. But yea this is all really baseless speculation on my part so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The misfits didn't overlap with a major band last year, just 15 minutes of Syd Arthur who closed out the storyheart stage, I would expect Jawbreaker to go the same way.

If paramore plays on Friday I'll be super bummed if they conflict with NIN but it seems like it's more likely that they'll play back to back on the two main stages.

I think if any of the bigger acts conflict, it'll be headliners and the big rap artists (NIN / MIA and QOTSA / Wu tang, maybe?) Like Nas and Moz last year

I got tickets for all three days, but I'm not going to lie, I'm mainly just there for Jawbreaker. Everyone else is just icing on the cake. Hopefully there isn't too much over lap with the other bands I wan to see, but if it happens it happens. I really don't get why people are saying that Paramore should headline over Jawbreaker because I honestly didn't think that Paramore was that popular anymore.

To be clear before I say this, at this point I'm completely diverging from any discussion of Paramore vs. Jawbreaker or anyone, but just comparing them to themselves, Paramore is arguably at the peak of their popularity right now. They've obviously had some big singles before, but their S/T album did very well, both in it's overall sales, and in that it spawned 2 huge singles Still Into You & Ain't It Fun, and Ain't It Fun, if I'm not mistaken, is their most successful single to date. Hard Times definitely seems like a song that could match that success. They have been quiet for the past 2 years, but they seem completely set up to come back as strong (and hopefully stronger) than ever before.

I'm obviously out of the loop in how popular Paramore is, haha. I haven't heard from them on the radio stations I listen to (I mainly listen to the alt and college rock stations on Sirius XM) nor have I heard any of my friends who used to be into Paramore talk about their latest stuff. So while they might be more popular by the numbers, I'm clearly not their target audience. Hopefully there's more people who aren't like me at Riot Fest who are more into them. They were very good live the last time I saw them when they toured with No Doubt, so I'm sure they'll put on a good shoe regardless.

^Definitely understandable. They have been completely inactive for 2 years, and they haven't been one the radio much for at least as long.

Decided I need to make this happen no matter what. Was able to find a hotel room ~10 minutes from the festival at a semi-decent price.

This line-up is fantastic, with a strong 2 lines of headliners and an impressive (though not so crowded that I'm stressed about conflicts yet) undercard.

Travelodge Downtown on East Harrison. Definitely not the best hotel, but... Solid location and from what I could see it was one of the cheapest without going full hostel.

I guess it depends on what you count "closing out a stage" as, I could definitely see Paramore and ADTR closing out mainstage left while those top-billed close out mainstage right (very similar to last year)... not sure if TBS is still on top of their scene game enough to do that though - could see them playing an earlier set in the day on one of the mains (like MCS, JEW, or Brand New last year), or maybe even closing out (or getting close to closing out) one of the other big classic Warped-ish stages (I'm thinking the one they had PTV and ATL slotted at last year).
