The fest is in North Lawndale. I don't think you'll find much in that neighborhood, but it's worth a shot. If you aren't planning on having a car, I'd recommend being close to the CTA, since the pink line stops right by the park. Personally, I live in Logan Square and took a bus every day that dropped me off a block away.
Bosstones have already confirmed they are playing Let's Face It! Streetlight will almost definitely do a 10 year. I think Bayside have even teased possibly doing something like this for it.
MIA playing Kala for its 10 year? Although she just put a new album out last year. QOTSA has its 15 year for Songs for the Deaf and 10 year for Era Vulgaris as well.
I sure hope so. I almost saw them play S/T a couple years ago in Philly at a super small venue, but I ended up getting a migraine that day so I wasn't able to make it. Seeing TWW in full would be a dream come true. Easily my favorite Bayside record.
Really crossing my fingers for TAYF, wasn't into the band in time for the 10-year tour and that's one of my all-time favorites.
As much as I enjoyed seeing them three nights last week I was looking forward to a proper headlining set.
RE: The diversity discussion earlier in the thread. The fest is a bit more diverse than people are giving it credit for. It woukd be rad if a band like pwr bttm or diet cig played, and yeah, the top names have a bunch of cis-white dudes, but the undercard is pretty stacked decently. By my quick calculation, there are at least 11 bands with a female member: -MIA -Downtown Boys -New Order -That Dog -Dessa -Peaches -Beach Slang -Alice Bag -X -The Regrettes -Paramore I know the fest is predominantly still male even within these bands, but it's still better than some other fests (Looking at your Montebello). I probably won't go to the main event because I hate outdoor music fests with a burning passion, but I've gone to Thrice and Dillinger Escape Plan after shows the last two years. Hopefully there'll be another one I want to hit up this year...maybe Dead Cross at Township?
I'll be pissed if NFG does Sticks and Stones My predictions: FYS - Rise or Die Trying Bayside - Walking Wounded Lawrence Arms - Oh Calcutta (probably not but please pleas please) Hot Water Music - Fuel For The Hate Game (20 year anniversary) Streetlight - SITB (This is obviously happening no prediction here) Say Anything - IARB (probably not likely but would love to see it) Mayday Parade - ALIR (Seems likely) I doubt Jawbreaker does one because clearly if they were doing a certain album some people would be turned away by it.
Dinosaur Jr. – You’re Living All Over Me (1987-30th Anniversary) The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – Let’s Face It (1997-20th Anniversary) Built To Spill – Keep It Like A Secret (1999) Fishbone – Truth and Soul (1988-30th Anniversary) Bayside – The Walking Wounded (2007-10th Anniversary) Mayday Parade – A Lesson In Romantics (2007-10th Anniversary) The Lawrence Arms – Oh, Calcutta! (2006) that dog. — Retreat From The Sun (1997-20th Anniversary) TBD – Announcing Soon! TBD – Announcing Soon!
Definitely excited about Oh! Calcutta! I'd be excited about A Lesson In Romantics but I'm going to the show Saturday.
Fuck yes Oh Calcutta! So stoked for that.. Bayside will be sick too. In the past when they announce these some bands still end up doing albums and I'd assume FYS and Streetlight will end up doing their albums
I think that will be a low key thing and not apart of this list. I don't think they're really big enough for them to have to advertise it that way
