In 2014, I drove to my friend's house in Maryland from NJ and then he drove to Chicago. All I remember about that drive was that Indiana is massive! I think we left at 10am and after a few stops, we got to Chicago around 10pm Central. Coming back, I caught a cold (I'm convinced I caught it from Buddy from Senses Fail) and that was even more miserable.
It's truly horrible haha the most uncomfortable 7 hour ride ever.. I might drive this year but the tolls get outrageous as well. I will have my Nintendo Switch so maybe the ride won't be that bad this year if I can be entertained with that
Yep, we will be using the Switch as well lol. Who would've thought Nintendo and punk rock would still be such a potent combo in my adult life. I blame that on my first big show being the Nintendo Fusion tour with FOB/TSL/MCS/BNO/P!ATD. Just booked our hotel. It's real!! Most hyped time of the year.
The Fest lineup is always around this time of year. I really don't think this year they randomly decided they had to announce right before The Fest. I think it probably just has to do with setting everything in stone for one festival is easier than doing so for two or three festivals.
It looks that way... until you get to taxes and fees. We're coughing up $1,251.52 total for four nights with two beds because my roommate is joining us. So a little over $100 a night for each of us, and this is taking into account the convenience charge for not having to pay until check-in. YMMV but I'd rather take the hit to the wallet than stay somewhere sketchy. I went with Crowne Plaza Chicago West Loop via hotels.com fwiw
We got 5 nights with a king sized bed at Chicago South Loop Hotel for a little over $1000. But we booked our hotel before the new year. Think we probably paid around this much for 4 nights last year.
I'm like almost there on this lineup, but not fully (specially because of the price of tickets). If I get about a good 3/4 good bands next wave than I'm sold. Any given bands for next round??
I drove from Nebraska to go back to Chicago because I won two, 3-days last year (just stayed at my parent's house). Probably can't afford/get time off work to go all 3, going Sunday though for Jawbreaker.
This lineup is insane, I just might have to fly out. I unfortunately haven't seen Paramore since 2007 so I'm very ready for a new album cycle, not to mention the other like twenty bands I'd want to see.
The Front Bottoms - the dog in the RF teaser video was named Ginger, so I'm holding on that TFB are a 2nd wave band, probably waiting until they're ready to announce their plans for their next album before they announce this show. The Maine - I could easily see them getting added on the 2nd wave, after their May 6th show in Chicago is over. I'm really hoping for this. Sum 41 - Seem like a band that are destined to play RF. They're playing Piqniq May 20th, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are playing but holding off until that's over to be announced. Bleachers - Same reasoning as Sum 41 (but I don't actually think this one will happen. I think Jack's probably got a full US tour planned for the fall). Sorority Noise - Again, they seem like a band that would play, but they probably wouldn't want that announced before their show here in May. It's worth noting The Story So Far and Bayside/Say Anything are also playing shows here in May but were already announced. (But it's also worth noting that they both already have sold out shows, so there's no reason for them to hold back on being announced). Out of these, I feel most confident that Sum 41 and The Front Bottoms will be there. Also neither of these will happen, but it'd be cool to see: The Academy Is... performing "Santi" All Time Low performing "So Wrong, It's Right"
Anybody have guesses as to what they could be? If that's the case I'm willing to bet on Mayday Parade performing A Lesson In Romantics and Four Year Strong performing Rise Or Die Trying, but not sure what else there would be.
Streetlight Manifesto, I know that Might Mighty Bosstones already announced they are doing one. I think Paramore doing Riot is possible, but I hope not and I don't really see why that's what they would want to do at this point in their career. Maybe Bayside doing Walking Wounded? It could really be anyone.
Streetlight and Four Year Strong seem super likely for full albums. Walking Wounded turned 10 this year, so that'd make sense too.
Paramore playing "Riot!" as a 10-year album for Riot Fest? Eh? (obviously not, but figured I'd get that joke over with)
Hot takes for album plays Bosstones- Let's Face It That Streetlight album that's turning 10 Lawerence Arms- Oh Calcutta Jawbreaker- Dear You Taking Back Sunday- Tell All Your Friends A man can dream, right?
