Considering all the rumors, I'm disappointed to not see Smashing Pumpkins on this.....but it makes my decision to see Gorillaz in NYC this weekend a much easier choice. If I were going, I'd be excited for: NIN, QOTSA, Wu Tang, New Order, Say Anything, Minus the Bear.
I'm very nervous for my girlfriend to see this lineup. We have our tickets already, but I see like one or two bands on here that she'll be excited for. I am worried she may tell me to go it alone lol.
Confused by the wording here - it's possible that the bands TBA that are playing legacy sets aren't on this initial list?
Nice! We don't line up a whole lot on music: I'd say the three big ones we crossover on are Gaslight Anthem, Frank Turner, and Manchester Orchestra. Other than that she is more into reggae and real country and blues and jazz and stuff that makes her much more worldly than me lol. Her biggest "OMG" moments on past lineups were Marley descendants, Merle Haggard, Morrissey, Death Cab, The Cure, etc. Overall i don't think it's the festival for her.
I like how they announced which day each of the headliners are playing. I don't think they've done that for Chicago before.
Jawbreaker makes sense because a lot of people will travel for it but it definitely won't be as big of a crowd as Misfits or anything
I am assuming that Sunday will have the biggest drawing secondary headliner. As of now would that likely be Paramore?
Curious as to how much GA 3 day passes will be. Did early bird passes ever get more expensive than $150?
Haha yeah 100%. Based on logic though...looked around and said "hm...what cult punk act like Replacements or Misfits hasn't reunited yet and could?"
My phone has been on the fritz all morning so I just now got to look at the line-up. I'm not thrilled with it personally and won't be attending. Unless the second wave blows me away. There is a lot of good stuff here and good stuff to be excited about for the people going but my intional thoughts: -A lot of bands I do like but they tour often enough that I wouldn't make the trek. -QOTSA is a bigger draw than Paramore at Riot Fest? -Jawbreaker is closing the festival? They are the Sunday headliner? I'm not sure how many people will stick around for that. I know they are a pretty legendary band but unlike The Misfits with the original line-up. I don't see how that'll draw. -Vic Mensea is as popular as Taking Back Sunday? He's really high on the list. -Didn't Wu Tang play a few years ago? I wonder how many of will actually show up. -Nine Inch Nails, who I'd watch seems like a Lollapalooza headliner to me. Same with QOTSA. -Andrew W.K., TBS and Gwar again… shocker! -I'm over Prophets of Rage. It was an okay novelty last year but now? Meh.
Tell All Your Friends is 15 this year - given that they've done it in the past, it's probably still out of the question though, right?
I count 16 bands I'd 100% want to see. That's as many as I saw last year, not including the bands I saw for a song or so as I was walking past their sets.
Yes Jawbreaker is popular and is a reunion people have been begging for for many years. Jesus people. Of course they are a headliner. And I would say that they will draw a bigger crowd than the third headliner last year (flaming lips).
