I hope Paramore is on Sunday too. I love Jawbreaker, but honestly I can't imagine them drawing as well as NIN or QOTSA
The diversity is a bummer. Julien Baker, PWR BTTM, Slothrust, Laura Stevenson, so many great acts that would really do well on a stage like this.
Oh yeah I understand totally! It just seems like a lack of diversity (genre-wise). I went to the one in 2014 and that whole lineup blew me out of the water. It feels like they went all in with Jawbreaker.
yup, what a weak attempt every festival will be kicking themselves for not inviting pwr bttm this year
I have mixed feelings, but overall excited. I've never been a huge NIN guy and I haven't listened to Jawbreaker much, but I know that's a big deal so I'll definitely check them out more. So excited about Paramore, they're long overdue. The undercard does feel a little bit like the same though. Vic Mensa is a cool addition. Very excited for FIDLAR. Should be a pretty great weekend overall.
I wouldn't count them out yet. It wouldn't surprise me if they are on the 2nd wave after Bled Fest is over. I'm also hoping for the Maine and other Bled Fest bands on the second wave.
they weren't on any festival this year, if festivals really wanted to get bands before they blew up they'd be on every single one
I would have to really doubt that Riot Fest in September really has any effect on Warped Tour at all. It's one show in Chicago vs. a national tour. If anything, bands wouldn't play midwest warped tour dates, but they wouldn't skip the whole tour for Riot Fest.
Wouldn't festivals of this size typically want to book bands that have already blown up in order to sell more tickets?
i mean they're in the process OF blowing up, they're the kind of band that i would guarantee a bunch of gay/trans/queer/nb kids would go to this festival simply to see it also looks really good to have small bands lower on the bill that blow up later on
Thought I saw somewhere that PWR BTTM was playing one of the smaller fests in Chicago this year, which would count them out for RF anyway, but I can't find the post about it now. It does seem like this lineup is quite a bit less diverse than the past couple years though.
Fucking stoked. Hope the next wave has: Against Me!, Less Than Jake, Saves The Day, Every Time I Die, Alkaline Trio and Front Bottoms.
Honestly a little surprised Jawbreaker is billed as a headliner. I know they're a big deal, but I didn't realize they were THAT big. Compared to The Misfits last year, it seems like a pretty sizable step down. Although I suppose NIN is a pretty sizable step up from The Flaming Lips, and QOTSA are probably about on par with Morrissey, so I guess they just balanced the headliners a little more.
