Seeing as Douglas Park is a bit of a lodging desert, I'd recommend looking by Midway for the combo of price and closeness if you're looking for a hotel (Between 70-90 bucks a night). Hotels near O'Hare will probably be even cheaper (~$60-80 a night), but they're farther away. AirBNB would probably be your cheapest option with the ability to book something more local to Douglas Park, but given your bad experience with it - that's up to you. I'm just seeing information on that page that lists their partnership with a hotel search engine. Nothing about specific partner hotels.
I thought Choking Victim seemed like a lock, but they're playing a Riot Fest-sponsored show in Chicago in May. I suppose they could still do both. Taking Back Sunday seems likely as they just announced a tour for late summer with no Chicago date.
Somewhat based on logic: Queens of the Stone Age, 30 Seconds to Mars, Smashing Pumpkins, Every Time I Die, All Get Out Wild ass guesses (Some are likely, some are just my wish list): Paramore, The Academy Is... (Performing "Santi"), The Maine, The Story So Far, Bleachers, FIDLAR, SWMRS, You Blew It!, Weezer, Avenged Sevenfold, Saves the Day, Diet Cig, the Front Bottoms, All Time Low (Performing "So Wrong, It's Right", although this almost definitely won't actually happen).
I'm really hoping for John K. Samson since he's toured a lot this year and hasn't been though Chicago. Or a Weakerthans reunion, but I know that won't happen. Jenny Lewis would be awesome and seems sort of likely since she's doing a B-market in Illinois in June and not playing any of the other big fests (unless I missed something).
Streetlight Manifesto will probably play. They're doing Somewhere in the Between dates the same weekend in the midwest.
Yeah Streetlight is 100% a lock I'd say. My new hope is STD playing SWYA I also can't believe that the 149 price tier is still there. I'm gonna end up buying my ticket by the end of this week
Someone on Reddit said they heard a commercial saying it was coming April 19th, so this is basically confirmed. Very exciting that we're getting it early. Hopefully that means it'll be a big one.
I keep putting it off but that price point is too good and I just got my tax return so I guess I have no excuse now
I really hope it's the full lineup, but part of me thinks it's just one headliner - didn't they do that last year with the Misfits announcement? Announce that super early and the rest later?
Per the OP: 11/24/15 - early bird 3-day passes go on sale (Chicago & Denver - $100) 05/12/16 - Misfits (original lineup) is the first band announced 05/18/16 - first wave of bands announced 06/28/16 - remaining bands & daily lineups announced, single day & two-day tickets on sale 08/03/16 - Denver after shows announced 08/16/16 - Chicago after shows announced 08/17/16 - Denver set times announced 08/30/16 - Chicago set times & Denver map announced
I think they only announced them about a week early. But I could be remembering wrong. I'm pretty excited. I feel like I have way less of a clue as to who is playing compared to other years. I'm sure X will be (they have chicago listed as tba on their tour dates for the weekend of riot fest) and streetlight too. But other than those two, and maybe soundgarden since they skipped Chicago, I really have no clue.
That was my first thought, but it would have to be something on par with the Misfits reunion to necessitate a separate announcement
