I'd love to finally go to one of these but I'll be going to after shows all three nights so I should probably just rest up.
Red Hot Ranch is my go to drunk 4-5am food. That and Portillos are my favorite dogs I've had in Chicago Never got to have Dougs
Haha. I'm staying by O'Hare. Going to the Taking Back Sunday and Thursday after shows but I'm staying in town for a few days after the festival is over. So I'm looking for stuff
Hey all! I'm just curious for anyone who lives in Chicago/has had experience with getting to Riot from Midway, what's the best way to get to Douglas Park from around Midway airport? Thankfully public transport seems to be pretty decent in Chicago, but figured I'd ask here for any tips/suggestions anybody has. Thanks, and see y'all there
It depends on how close you're staying to the airport. the 52 bus runs from around Midway straight to Douglas Park; you can either take just the bus, the Orange line to Kedzie and get on the 52, or you can take the Orange line to the Pink Line like the user said above.
For dogs, Franks N' Dawgs in Lincoln Park is more of gourmet style stuff but awesome. I've had shark and scallop meat hot dogs, breakfast dogs, etc. Also byob and there's a Binny's (Chicagoland alcohol mega chain) and T Joe's just down the street from it. You can prob sift through the Chicago thread for more recs, but this past weekend I went to Green Street Smoked Meats in the West Loop for the first time and it was delicious. Great brisket, pork, sides, and a full bar. Also, the Lagunitas taphouse and brewery not too far from Douglas Park has great food too.
Yeah I'm looking at the 52 Bus now. We're staying at the Quality Inn Midway, but getting to the closest 52 stop from there and then just taking that direct to Douglas Park might be an option!
I found out I have to go to my girlfriend's good friend's wedding instead of Riot Fest, and I am entirely salty about it. sl;dkfj;lsajfd Does that make me a bad person/boyfriend?
A novel idea in concept, but I think the outcome will have long term negative impact on my life. hahaha
It's not your friend. I don't see the problem. I skipped my friend's wedding to go to a concert. Pretty crappy of her to tell you days before Riot Fest.
I'm surprised that neither of you communicated about two important things happening at the same time before now. Surely she knew you were going to this, and a good friend's wedding would take lots of time and planning and RSVPs. It's definitely a tough situation, but you should work it out between the two of you. That kind of short notice makes it seem like it wasn't that big a deal to her, unless of course you knew she was going and just assumed you wouldn't be. Either way it comes back to communication.
Seriously. I can't shut up about Riot Fest any time new info is released. Even if my wife didn't go every year with me she would still know every detail from me going on about it.
There are still tickets available for The Bronx after show. The Bronx at Double Door on Sep 18, 2016 10:00 PM
And the Bad Religion after show too. Official Riot Fest After Show - Bad Religion - Tickets - Concord Music Hall - Chicago, IL, September 17, 2016 | Ticketfly
We hit up Reckless on Madison. Pretty decent. Only replying in regards to Saved by the Max...Do you have reservations? We had zero luck with walk in. I hope you get to go!
Staying on a friend of mine's couch for 10 days starting on the 15th. Aside from riot fest I'm also hitting a Cubs game. Its gonna be a great week filled with music and baseball. Catch me in the crowds Brand New, Motion City Soundtrack, the Taking Back Sunday after show, Balance and Composure, Jimmy Eat World (just recently fell in love with them and am very excited) among many others
