Do set times overlap a lot? Looking at the Saturday lineup I'm already dreading conflicts from MCS-Morissey as most of the bands I want to see will play during that stretch.
Really the only band I hoped we'd get and didn't is Piebald. Additions of The Bronx and Sleater-Kinney totally make up for it though. Friday- The Anniversary, Jimmy Eat World, NOFX, Refused, Tigers Jaw, Fu Manchu, Diarrhea Planet, Off With Their Heads, Laura Stevenson Saturday- Moz, Brand New, Death Cab, The Hives, Motion City, The Hold Steady, Bob Mould, The Vandals, Fucked Up, Summer Cannibals Sunday- Sleater Kinney, Bad Religion, Thursday, Andrew WK, The Bronx, The Falcon, The So So Glos
Yes, we're pretty much screwed Saturday. You can look at past years and I'm sure they will do their best, but it will be a nightmare.
I think he might go Friday and try to sell the others. I don't know how it works. He has a 3-day pass.
If you do print at home (not sure if there are other options), you get one ticket with the same barcode for all three days. So you can print it three times or just once and use the same one. That makes things a little difficult when selling one day of a 3-day pass because you have to trust that whoever you sell to won't use that ticket again.
Sets are typically 30 minutes for the very early shows, 45 minutes for the mid-afternoon shows, 60 minutes for evening shows and usually 75-90 minutes for headliners. Example: Riot Fest Chicago set times announced - News - Alternative Press
Think I might at least get a one day pass for Friday now since I know I'll be home for it. Ton of potential for set overlaps right in the middle though (TDEP, Touche, DP, OWTH), and actually I think I'm more than fine shelling out money for a 3 day pass since I would love to see a ton of these bands that I should have listened to long ago lol.
Friday: For sure: Set Your Goals, Touche Amore, Tigers Jaw, Citizen, Turnover, Off With Their Heads, Violent Soho, Big D & The Kids Table, Jimmy Eat World, All Time Low. Maybe: Pierce The Veil, Refused, Laura Stevenson, Somos. Saturday: For sure: Death Cab For Cutie, Brand New, Motion City Soundtrack, Balance & Composure, Microwave Maybe: Descendents, Morrissey Sunday: For sure: The Wonder Years, The Falcon, The Dirty Nil, Creeper, A Will Away. Maybe: Bad Religion, Underoath, Thursday, The Misfits, Me First & The Gimme Gimmes, Andrew WK, All Dogs, Hard Girls, Can't Swim.
Friday: Flaming Lips, Jimmy Eat World*, NOFX, Refused, Pierce the Veil, Glassjaw, Set Your Goals*, Neck Deep, Dillinger Escape Plan, Tigers Jaw*, Basement*, Touche Amore*, Citizen*, Turnover* Saturday: Moz, Death Cab*, Brand New*, Descendents, Motion City Soundtrack*, Fucked Up, Balance and Composure*, Microwave* Sunday: Misfits, Sleater-Kinney, Deftones*, Bad Religion, Underoath*, Thursday, Death Grips, Joey Bada$$, The Wonder Years*, Laura Stevenson, Tancred Starred bands are must-see. It looks like I won't have to arrive too early or stay til the end most days, which will be nice. I'm also a little bummed we didn't get 2 Chainz.
yeah this year's festival doesn't interest me at all and now that i see the way the bands were split, there's not even that one day that gets me pumped. Good try, but not for me.
Friday: Jimmy Eat World, NOFX, Refused, Pierce the Veil, All Time Low, Glassjaw, Set Your Goals, Neck Deep, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Big D and the Kids Table Saturday: Descendents, Motion City Soundtrack, Smoking Popes, I the Mighty Sunday: The Misfits, Bad Religion, Underoath, Thursday, Tiger Army, Leftover Crack, Billy Talent, The Falcon, War on Women
Underwhelming 2nd wave for sure, but there's still tons that I'm excited for. It's also nice that each day has less and less, gives me more time to relax, wander, and check out new bands. Friday: Jimmy Eat World NOFX Bad Religion Pierce the Veil All Time Low Glassjaw Set Your Goals Tigers Jaw Touche Amore Citizen Turnover Off With Their Heads Somos Saturday: Death Cab For Cutie Brand New Descendents Motion City Soundtrack The Hives Smoking Popes I the Mighty Balance and Composure Sunday: Deftones Bad Religion Underoath Thursday The Wonder Years Billy Talent Tancred
I'm just waiting for the MCS after show to be honest. Hoping maybe we'll get a underoath and jimmy eat world one also.
I had expectations the second wave would be total garbage. Julian Marley doing Exodus is a bucket list kind of deal, and the Flaming Lips put on one of the best shows I've ever seen, so cool. Definitely worried about those Misfits/Rob Zombie/Sleater-Kinney/Deftones/Bad Religion/Thursday/Death Grips/Chevy Metal conflicts though. Damn
