As far as I know, the thing that's lending credibility to the rumors is that the website where the statement was posted is the one where Morrissey historically has submitted his public statements. He is a large enough artist that I'm assuming his Facebook page is run by a record label or management company, and the decision to cancel (if it's true) was one straight from Morrissey himself. The other thing is that Riot Fest has not posted anything on Facebook or Twitter since the rumor started, and they typically update their social media pages constantly throughout the day.
Probably that he will or will not be there. That said, I am betting it could be a dicey subject since they are likely re-negotiating with him now. I just get what people are wanting Riot Fest to address.
That's what I think too and there is no need for them to give daily updates on the matter. Once the matter is resolved either way, I am sure they will make a statement.
No one is expecting daily updates on it. I can understand why they would want to figure it out before saying something, but radio silence is uncharacteristic and does make people worry. It again reminds me of the Humboldt situation, where it was clearly all hands on deck and don't post stupid pictures because people will only flood the comments.
It would be run by his management. I believe he bought a stake in the label he's been releasing on so, if I recall the correctly, everyone is working directly for him. They would have taken it down if he was absolutely certain he wasn't playing. They've been posting today. They've taken breaks before. I think everyone is looking for clues where there aren't any.
Me and the gf decided to do our first Riot Fest in celebration of our three year anniversary. Driving from Philly. Can't wait!
really weird about the morissey thing. but this and bled fest are the two festivals I want to go to the most.
I'm hearing rumors that Tool is actually the main headliner, and will be announced on June 23rd. If Tool, Beck and At the Drive In actually get added, I am 100% buying a ticket.
I hope Tool isn't the main headliner because I think that poster looks a lot more special and a lot cooler with the Misfits as the first band listed. Also, true to you now says that Morrisey is playing on Saturday. So all that media click-bait for nothing.
Someone in the industry who has always given me good scoops. He told me about LCD and GNR at Coachella all the way back in August, as well as other huge bookings that ended up being true. He says Tool will be announced as the headliner for Voodoo Fest on June 22nd, and then on June 23rd Riot Fest will make their announcement. I'm guessing Voodoo prob had something in their contract to be the first fest to announce them.
So the same website that kicked off all the rumors about Morrissey not playing is the same website that confirms he is playing? haha
glad that riot fest aren't looking like liars here. it's "confirmed" now, so they definitely had it at some point.
Woohoo! I knew it was just too vague to be the real end of it. Glad they worked it out, whatever had to happen behind the scenes. And now the speculation about who's playing what day can begin!
Man. Morissey sucks. (Even though I'm going to be seeing him live at this show and be oh so happy about it.)
I would assume that The Anniversary will play on Friday (they play in Detroit on Thursday and then in Kansas on Saturday). The Specials specifically said that they are playing Riot Fest on Friday, September 16th when they announced (and if they aren't they have to be on Sunday because they already have a show on Saturday). That's about all I have for now.
