Strong early 2000's vibes, it reminds me of Ayumi Hamasaki a lot

You're gonna love this I reckon. My three favourite songs on the record aren't singles.

 

It's out there. Is it me or does Dynasty sound like a mix of Evanescence and Coheed And Cambria?

That was unexpected

 

This is way more Jpop (think Ayumi Hamasaki for the rock influences) than I expected. Quite diverse stylistically, and bombastic. I'm so excited to give it many many more listens.

 

The sax solo into the key change on Paradisin', tho.

 

Only off by a few days, happy day-after-Easter!

Rina Sawayama explores her heritage on a deft debut filled with experimentation

 

This new album is fucking great, wow. I didn't even like RINA but this is another level

 

I really liked RINA, but yeah, this is absolutely phenomenal. I wasn’t too hot on the singles outside of Chosen Family, but man this is so, so good. My leak has a bonus track, Tokyo Takeover, that’s also really good.

 

Yeah that's the Japanese bonus track, that version was the first to leak somehow.

 

If life were normal & I were able to drive around a bunch w/ my music too loud, I'd have some different favorites, including some of the singles.

But, in lockdown life, "Bad Friend" & "Chosen Family" are my sentimental jams, lol.

Incredible album... Holy shit.

 

I love most of this. The nineties feel is a bit much at times. Chosen Family is the best song I'll hear all year.

Never heard of Rina before, but the buzz and her being on Dirty Hit gave it an immediate go. Wow. Amazing. Between Dua, Fiona and her, we’re getting consistently blessed with awesome music.

 

Japanese House and King Nun last year, Rina this year, they're really killing it in terms of debuts.
