Big fan of the closer too! I really like the album overall even if I am a little disappointed that it's not a bit more out there sonically. There's some great songs here.
can see Imagining as the set opener on the tour extended intro backing track, Rina and band come on "WHAT THE FUCK IS UP, [place name]?!?!?" song kicks in on a 4-count and the place goes off
Nothing jumped out at first listen, but it was all “good.” Bought the vinyl so I’m hoping some spins reveal a few layers to me.
I feel like this is a little undercooked. Feel like it is eclectic in a sense of just throwing a ton of ingredients into the pot rather than doing them with intention and understanding, like on her last album. I feel like the sound and the story of the album are kind of at odds with each other as well. Nothing on it is BAD, just feels a little less polished and I kinda wish she had waited a little longer to drop it. Standouts for me are this hell and frankenstein, the run of holy thru frankenstein is v good in total.
I really like the run from 6-10, "This Hell" and the title track. Hope more listens will help me like the rest, but just like the new Beach Bunny and Beabadoobee, too much of it is very mid and doesn't really have the uniqueness that I loved about her last one.
just waiting for someone to get their hands on the Japan-only bonus track, Flavor of the Month (can hear a snippet here: Hold The Girl).
I just listened to this for the first time. I like it but don’t love it. All the songs are good, it’s just hard not to compare it to SAWAYAMA which was transcendent
I’ll probably listen to it a bunch because my girlfriend loves it so I might change my opinion after a bunch of listens
Finding this surprisingly boring. Even some of the potentially good songs feel held back by drab beats and production. Not much hint of the fun genre-mixing of the first album or EP. Your Age is a bad Nine Inch Nails homage.
