Holy shit haha. It would have been cool to try it so I drove down 5 minutes to mcdonalds and when they didn't have it I was just like "eh, okay". Nowhere near these reactions
Haha seriously. The girl told me they were long gone and I was just like "okay thanks" but there was this whole contingent of uber-fans that were still milling around the restaurant complaining about how they had been cheated in some way or another. I mean jeez guys, it's just a dipping sauce (which is probably 90% corn syrup) being served at a restaurant I wouldn't otherwise be caught dead at. I was semi-embarrassed to just be there at all.
Just from a pure marketing standpoint, it doesn't make sense for McDonalds to pull a stunt like this and not make a big enough supply. Like they clearly don't understand the community that they're dealing with. That said, they were pretty clear and up front about how this was a limited thing. Not exactly the extent of how limited, but still. Anyone that got their hopes up too high has mostly themselves to blame.
It is weird that McDonalds would do a one day only promotion though. Like, maybe have it be week long or something.
so like...the only reasonable conclusion from all of this is how fucking asinine rick and morty fans are. If anyone ever asks me "how could the world think Americans are spoiled" I will point to this.
This whole Szechaun sauce incident should really shut down any of the arguments I've been seeing the past few weeks of people saying Rick and Morty fans aren't that bad
I mean, again, there was no reason for them to make such a hilariously, pointlessly limited amount of sauce available, but they were also completely honest about it being super limited. McDonalds isnt completely innocent but the reaction is definitely overblown. Just go back to not eating McDonalds if you're upset, they've been losing business with the show's target demo for years now anyway.
Beth & Jerry are 100% better people, because their problems largely stem from (but are obviously not limited to) the presence of Rick himself. I cannot understand how someone can watch this show and consider Rick to be "right" with any of his nihilistic beliefs. My fav scene is the end of the Unity ep which shows how deeply unhappy he is, and it wouldn't be right to attribute that unhappiness solely to him being the literal smartest being in the universe - even HE knows he is wrong on some level. To me personally - and this may not be a view even anyone ITT will share - I feel the show is moving towards explicitly proving Rick wrong - that everything DOES matter, no matter which one of the infinite realities you dwell in (Evil Morty will be dangerous to Rick through every reality too). All 5 mains will complete personal journeys etc etc rather than give up & align with Rick's worldview, and I feel like Jerry overcoming his weaknesses and becoming a decent husband/father/human and Beth overcoming the damage Rick has done (she is def a clone atm lol) is something we will definitely see at the end as proof that the individual characters and what they believe and feel matters, even in an infinite reality. Morty & Summer being the voices of reason throughout, because they are far more intelligent in humanity matters than Rick (plus dumbass Jerry and Beth) will ever be lol. Sorry for the TL;DR !!! It is a very good show - we all know this ITT. The level of creativity is unmatched in at least anything else I'm watching on TV right now. It just sucks that people will attach fans' negative behaviour - for which they are 100% responsible for - to the show itself It's something I'd never really considered before, but when you posted that stuff in the Simpsons thread a while back I was stunned at some of the stuff I read on those old message boards.
Whether it's a conscious response to the fans or not, I also get the feeling the show is moving toward knocking Rick down a peg or two. Good observation there for sure.
Absolutely - I cannot recall Rick even having any sort of defeat yet, even his imprisonment was due to him turning himself in and not being apprehended. Though I'd hate for the writers to alter the story/vision solely in response to these dweebs, that part of the fandom do need addressing in an official capacity (I know DH has done the interview that was shared a few pages back, but this McDonalds stuff is just more bullshit).
Yeah, I would never show my kids this show. These are my two favorite posts in that McDonald's thread.
I’m also amazed at that dude who said they wasted a whole tank of gas trying to find the sauce. like bruh what kind of car are you driving to do that?
havent caught up in a while so I'm just gonna say that this was a weird season but a really good one stil. Also I'm laughing so hard at the R&M "fans" who didn't get their sauce and overreacting like massive crybabies about it. Now I have to make myself a "Love the show, don't like the fans" person now, ugh.
