... apparently AS decided to troll people and live stream some random fish video. I missed the first 5 min before I decided to check basic cable. Sooo angry haha
I was so annoyed for part of this because of how much Pickle Rick stuff had already been shown in the previews and basically in chronological order... until I realized that they burned through that quick and there was still over half the episode left.
Susan Sarandon in a Rick And Morty episode was very unexpected haha Tbh I didn't love this one, just didn't get me like the show normally does
I liked the episode a lot but I didn't think they were going to go so straightforward with the Pickle Rick stuff. I actually was hoping they'd make the episode into sort of like a meta-commentary on the show itself and Rick doing increasingly wacky ridiculous things, like "What's the dumbest, most nonsensical thing Rick could do? Let's use that to make fun of ourselves and the trope of the sci-fi scientist doing experiments on himself at the same time." Clearly not what they were going for.
Top five episode of the series for me. Laughed so hard at Rick and Dr. Wong going back and forth with monologues at the end. One of my favorite things that Rick and Morty does is when the entire plot of the episode is completely superficial and irrelevant to what is actually happening. The whole actual plot movement of this episode can probably be summated as “Rick turns himself into a pickle to avoid family therapy and must navigate a sewer system, kill roaches, rats, and people, and escape a Russian prison to return to his human body before it’s too late” but the B-plot, with the family in therapy, is what’s really happening. Rick could have done literally anything other than go to family therapy and the episode still would have worked, but of course this is the “pickle rick episode” and not “the family therapy episode."
Excellent episode. The therapy stuff was fantastic and Pickle Rick was just as funny and crazy as I hoped it would be from the first glimpse in the season trailer. Loved it.
I really wish i could have been a fly on the wall in the writer's room when they pitched ideas to get rick out of family counseling and landed on turning him in to a pickle
I laughed so hard when Rick is first using the cockroach to painstakingly drag himself across the floor and just goes, "YESSSS!!". It was just so pathetic haha. Also, the scene where he destroys all those rats was brilliant.
to add to those: the AA battery powered laser, the Rube Goldberg devices, and stapling the pickle slice to heal himself were all brilliant as well. I've already rewatched this morning. This is a top fiver for me haha
I did not suspect them to use the divorce as a plot point for so much after that premiere, it makes a lot of sense but I wonder how far they'll take that arc this season
Immediately one of my favorite episodes. The whole idea of Rick turning himself into a pickle to avoid therapy and him trying to dance around that with his family had me dying. And the rest of the ep was absolutely insane.
