Anyone know the difference between the retail release and the VIP in terms of artwork/packaging? The VIP /500 lemon/pink swirl variant is supposed to feature deluxe gatefold artwork. However, it looks like the retail version is also gatefold - so I'm curious as to what, if any, difference there is between the two.
As the minutes inch closer and closer to Saturday, I am increasingly regretting not buying tickets to Rough Trade.
I know we've had this album for a week, but the official release was just yesterday! Not ready to let this thread slip away quite yet. Anyhow, my preorder arrived today and I couldn't be happier. Too bad I won't be able to listen to it until tomorrow because i'm about to head to Atlanta to watch Radiohead perform live for my first time ever.
After you spend some more time with this, venture on to Slingshot To Heaven, Buzzard, and then The Dust of Retreat - in that order (all by Margot & The Nuclrar So And So's).
Sounds like a new song at the beginning? Also sounds like he said the next album will be out in 5 months?
Sounds great. He said on one of the live streams he did earlier this year that the next album is 9 or 10 songs (I think) and that it's a lot more of just him with a guitar.
Must have missed where he said that, but I'm totally cool with it. Really just excited we are getting more new material this year.
There is no difference, actually. I think it was just poorly worded on the website when the preorders started. I got the VIP copy for myself and I went to a record store and bought the /1500 solid lemon and solid pink variant for my boyfriend, and the packaging is identical (except the VIP one is hand numbered out of 500). Isn't there a black/standard variant too, though? I wonder if the packaging is any different for that (as in not a gatefold).
Also... did anyone on here get one of the candles from the preorders? They sold out before the actual release date which I didn't expect, and I missed the boat while waiting for payday. PM me if you have one that you'd be interested in selling or trading for something!
I've been listening to this every day for over a week now. I've considered scaling back because I don't want to overdo it like I do with a lot of new releases.
