Preordered. However, I'm probably going to have to cancel my Patreon subscription. I can barely afford to purchase all the new music and projects he has coming out. Also, I'm not really seeing the point of his Patreon anymore either considering for new vinyl releases (like this one) you get to order an hour before the general public. And I have yet to see anything sell out before going on sale to non-Patreon members.

This album is very good. If you liked The Soft Ache and the Moon, you will find plenty to like here, it’s just stripped back a bit from that sound, but still feels just as dreamy.

You’ve heard the whole album? How? Higher tier Patreon?

I'm trying to write something on it to help build some hype at some point during the rollout.

Just now getting around to listening to the Britney cover and that was fantastic. Richard sounds pretty damn great.

Got weird and wrote a prose-poetry-dream-sequence-thing inspired by the new album. He's releasing a new song from it ("Pineapple") for Bandcamp Friday tomorrow, so if you're going to preorder and you haven't yet, you should wait until tomorrow so he gets more $ from your purchase.

The whole of New Mood is out today. Bandcamp and vinyl only, not on streaming services:

It’s Bandcamp Friday again today, and yeah, this album is out now, so you should grab it if you haven’t yet!

For those of you not on his Patreon, he is absolutely churning out projects right now. The second quarantine record of Margot re-makes will probably be announced in the next month or two and goddamn is it good, absolutely some new definitive versions of a few classic Margot songs.

The money that he brings in from Bandcamp Friday today will go towards mixing a brand new solo LP that he’s recorded over the past month.

Having a kind of (no, very) surreal experience right now of helping him put together a book of his songwriting/creation process through his solo era so far, going through boxes and binders of written material and physical pieces of his artistic life, poring over handwritten lyrics, really getting knee deep in his world. And I would just like to say he is a total sweetheart and a real goddamn songwriter, and it’s kinda criminal how small his current fanbase is.

Even though I already own all of the demo recordings, a bound box set / hardcover book like other demos would be sweet.

A physical box to match, which I believe will be empty but made to house all the Margot demo vinyl LPs as a set, will probably happen next year.

In the last couple months we quietly recorded the full length follow-up to "The Soft Ache And The Moon". It's become a really neat record about love and time. Jay Bellerose drums on it, Mike Bloom plays guitar, Dave Palmer and Benny Bock play keys, Johnny Flaugher plays bass and Erin Rae and Perla Batalla sing with me. It was recorded all over Los Angeles and Ojai California. We've funded it like we usually do, by slingin' merch and hustling, but with vinyl turn around times pushing a full year it's been harder to do quicker projects to gap finance the final mix. This is going to be about a 10k expenditure and we've probably gone as far as we can with the project without launching a campaign to finish it up. We've added tons of cool perks for folks who want to get involved. I really think you're going to love the album. I thank you for getting involved in its creation.

P.S. If we manage to hit our goal or go above it it will allow us flexibility to do things like master the album and even get vinyl going early so the delays won't affect us so much.

    Help finish LP4

    via email newsletter:

During the protracted period of pandemic isolation some friends and I embarked on a project entitled, “Richard Edwards Sings The Margot & The Nuclear So And So’s Songbook In Quarantine” which found us attempting to record soulful and (hopefully) beautiful reinterpretations of some of the songs from the Margot & The Nuclear So And So’s catalog. The result is (Thus far) two volumes featuring some definitive versions of some cult classic Margot tunes. Today we are thrilled to announce the second volume which is even better than the first. It was a labor of love and we hope you will dig it. The album is available in standard, special edition, and deluxe edition vinyl, as well as digital. We’ve worked very hard to make this one of our absolute best ever releases and we hope you’ll be excited to add it to your collection.

As always, thank you for supporting independent music.

I believe he'll be adding "A Sea Chanty of Sorts" to that Bandcamp page later tonight.

Mixing has begun on the new solo LP!

On the Margot side of things, Richard's letting me go through the unreleased La Blogothèque movie footage from 2008-09 and post some clips on TikTok. He's hoping to have the movie finished this year, but for now, follow along here if you're interested:
