I think that in game timer is a bit off though. Like it doesn’t include cutscenes or time in menus or something. My in game timer told me like 9.5 hours, but my Steam playtime said like 12-13.
Mine was around 12 hours but I really took my time/made sure everything (that i know of) on my map was blue.
That's around the same for me. I have close to 10 hours completed with the final lord/Mother Miranda left.
Watched Huber from Easy Allies and Kyle Bosman play through Village in one sitting the other night. So entertaining.
I don't game nearly as much as I used to, but is using a guide for these sort of games frowned upon or just considered a matter of personal preference? Used Polygon's guide for the RE2 Remake along with RE7. Helped me take care of the Mr. Everywhere statues and all that, but didn't really love the presumptive spoilers throughout when I would read a sentence ahead. Maybe that's on me, ha. Has anyone found one they really liked for RE8?
Play how you want dawg. I looked up where to find all the fish in the game cuz I wanted to make all the dishes lol. But also yeah looking up guides is probably gonna spoil you on things.
It’s maybe not the way I like to experience a game a first time, but I have absolutely no problem using a guide for collectibles/etc on the 2nd play through.
I use a guide if I’m stuck or I wanna find all the collectibles, nothing wrong with using them how you want though
The inspiration from PT on the Bennevito segment is pretty wild. Right down to the lighting effects, glitchy dolls and of course the fetus. Was it ever said by anyone on the RE side that PT was the inspiration here? I thought it was great and thoroughly enjoyed it, but was also surprised at how on the nose it was.
Alright wanted to stay out of the thread til I finished. Completed at 10 hours, and I got pretty much everything EXCEPT two areas. There’s that room in the castle right before the wooden path breaks leading to Lady D’s room. I didn’t see a way back. Then there was an area to the right of the when the Moreu fight kinda begins. Right before a certain someone is “eaten”. Other than that I think I got everything. Loved the game, and others have said the House B area was so cool. Didn’t like the last act. Which is funny because I didn’t mind 7’s. Even though it’s just as “action-y”. The final boss was kind annoying due to me only having 1 chem fluid. overall solid 9/10. Can’t wait for DLC.
i also missed that initially, but you can circle back to it by going back through the blood cellar (it took me way too long to figure out how to get back.) it was just a save room with an herb
I finished yesterday as well, fantastic game. Somehow I missed the last ball puzzle (had the ball, didn't see where the puzzle was before it was too late), and I missed one room in the castle before realizing I couldn't go back in. Ah well, I will do all that on my second playthrough I guess. I had forgotten I had the magnum in my inventory for most of the game, so the final boss was pretty easy because I had a lot of magnum ammo to use.
My only complaint with Village is that it wasn't long enough...may go back to fill the void with RE4.
I definitely think it was perfect length imo. If anything that ONE section towards the end could’ve been cut. It kinda takes away from when Ethan comes back to life anyways. It was awesome to mow down Lycan’s as Chris, but ultimately messed with the pacing.
Essentially they could have cut the Chris section, and expanded on it for a big chunk of DLC. Which I’m sure they might do a la RE7 dlc.
Triple post sorry. I didn’t hate the puzzles, but like a lot of reviews said they were ultimately underwhelming. Although I was very happy I went back to the well near the exit of the castle to find that optional one. The mannequin section where you have to rearrange certain features on it in House B was my favorite.
It might partially be because my TV is too dark (even after adjusting every possible setting), but I really disliked Heisenberg's Factory. I got extremely lost and it took me way longer than it should have to find my way again.
Yeah, the factory was definitely the worst area in the game. Way harder to navigate than anywhere else.
And the game just gets really dumb from that point. Robot army soldiers. Giant airplane engine guy. Chris telling Ethan to keep a low profile as he gives him a tank built out of chainsaws and bazookas.
