I am going back and rewatching ER because of The Pitt. ER had a disabled lesbian main character in fucking 1996.

Crazy how much media revisionism conservatives have about how "woke" TV was pre-2010's. They act like represention in media started during the Obama administration.

I vividly remember this storyline. This, Rosie O’Donnell, and the Lifetime movie with Stockard Channing were super important when I was trying to figure myself out

 

Honestly ER was that show. Every time I see a poorly aged show from that era and we're like "it was the times" like maybe that's some of it, but ER was out here addressing these topics in an actual meaningful way. It holds up insanely well imo. Got so excited when I heard the Pitt was a thing because I feel like I'm just watching Dr. Carter in a new hospital where he's now older and getting tired of fighting the sucky system lol. ER rules
