Sorry!! I should've used a spoiler tag, but in my frustration in the 5 minutes post-viewing I forgot it.
I got tipped off/spoiled to what happens in OITNB and I'm very glad to have known ahead of time. Decided not to watch this season because of it. Especially after hearing that Piper starting a white supremacy group (which if I read correctly was unintentional?) is used as comic relief
I watched the first three episodes and am enjoying it but if/when that happens I'm going to NOPE the eff out and turn it off
I was spoiled within less than a day for some of the larger plot points this season and I have almost no motivation to watch anymore. (No specific spoilers ahead but I want to be careful...) The issues with plot that people are having (myself included) are even magnified by the fact that the entire writing staff is made up of white people. Not necessarily outright shocking but still very disappointing.
@cybele Thats the biggest difference in a show like OITNB trying to talk about race and something like what UnReal is doing. UnReal had their staff members of color really come to the front lines this season and encouraged an open dialogue both with them and with the actors and actresses of color.
Warner Bros. Wants to Have Justin Lin Directing Akira With all the whitewashing going on, this could be a step in the right direction. No way an Asian American director would let the main roles go to white people.
Idris Elba, Emma Watson, Ice Cube among 683 invited to join the movie academy — the largest, most diverse class ever
Spoilers ahead for Orange Is the New Black season 4: http://www.vulture.com/2016/06/orange-is-the-new-black-death-on-tv.html
Lady Dynamite parodies crazy Japanese game shows one episode as a side gag like that's an okay thing to do, then spends the very next episode entirely on Maria wanting to but not knowing how to be more racially sensitive towards black people in particular. I don't even. I want to say it's meta because a lot of the show is, but it really just feels like Chris Rock calling attention to Oscars So White and then making fun of Asians, in reverse order.
I've noticed they've used her a lot less lately, which bummed me out because Jessica and Hasan are my favorite correspondents. Happy she's getting her own show though. Will definitely watch.
I went to see the new Ninja Turtles movie. All the good guys were white. All the bad guys were either black or Asian. Every single one and there was a big cast. Terrible, considering it's a kids movie.
Whatever, dude can get bent. At the very least, I have the original film and the shows to watch and just ignore this completely.
How were all the good guys white if it's ninja turtles. I... I don't understand what the issue is, are kids going to aspire to be anthropomorphic mutant turtles that live in sewers and associate anything else with negativity?
I feel like your insecurity and need for validation is more potent than anyone's annoyance over an unnecessary change. I like how so many people like you are obsessed with bringing up at every opportunity the people that you dislike. It's this childish boogyman mentality
