I still can't believe FANSD was released so long ago. Time flies... I'm excited for this. Hopefully they don't crush my expectations.
One bad album isn't going to turn me off to a band. I'm excited for this one. Like the two songs I've heard so far.
I'm not saying I'm turned off from the band. But CL did some serious damage to my love for them. I can't trust them to put out a decent album anymore. I'd rather have zero expectations and enjoy it than expect their usual greatness and get another CL.
Yeah, the time between FANSD and CL, then CL itself, then the time since CL...it's really hurt my enthusiasm for the band.
I can still say I love the band. Luckily they have a large of discography that one shit album doesn't completely derail my admiration. But it does change how I approach their new music. I can still freely jam all their other original music (I don't care for their cover song material) and love it. And as I mentioned earlier, their Mmhmm your was fantastic.
This. Still love the band and am excited for the album, but I can't say my enthusiasm hasn't been affected by all that you mentioned combined with the fact the the band themselves don't seem that enthusiastic and do a remarkably poor job of promoting themselves, rolling out albums, and keeping fans informed. The clips sound fantastic though.
I still haven't listened to the clips, but all the feedback is getting me pumped! I feel like I've been waiting so long, I didn't realize the release was right around the corner.
Yeah, holding off on the clips. I typically don't listen to Relient K stuff pre-release and wait for the album. But I did listen to the two singles.
Having listened to the clips last week, I've now entered the stage where I've forgotten what they sounded like but remember that they all sounded great. So now I can enjoy my newfound enthusiasm for the album guilt-free. :) Two. More. Weeks.
I remember before Dark is the Way by Anberlin came out, 90 second (or so) clips of every song leaked, and I listened to them a few times and it really took away from when the album came out (regardless of how generally disappointed I was in the album either way ha). Ever since I really just avoid clips. I'm also the kind of person who doesn't watch trailers for movies I want to see either so I guess it's just how I am haha.
The thing with Dark is the Way is that there's only really about 90 seconds worth of music on each track then it's just repeated. It's a boring album. I feel fine listening to 30 seconds of an album like this where it seems like 30 seconds isn't going to give away everything a song has to offer, just a little taste. One I won't likely even remember when I hear the album.
Stop! I'm pretty sure we mostly agree on Relient K but adamantly disagree on Anberlin, and I like agreeing with you, lol.
Haha, I'll keep my Dark opinions out of here then. I just find it hard to ever pass up an opportunity to diss that album. I really need to get over it, it's been 6 years.
I'm sorry but Dark is still my second favorite Anberlin album. hahaha Really though, I expect this Relient k album to be really good. The clips all sounded great.
@SpyKi its funny when I posted that I knew you would be the first to reply and that it would be something like that. Ha
I might retire my hatred. I'm sure everyone knows my feelings for that album by now and I'd rather focus on love. NTFP is amazing!
You will never make sense to me. Every song on Cities is better than every song on Dark in like every way. Well that lasted a good while.
Huh, fin is like....pretty good, I guess. Don't care much for the other two. Dark is their most cohesive effort imo and Lowborn is uneven but songs like Dissenter and Stranger Ways will always be among my favorites from the band
Anberlin is my second favorite band, and I prefer Dark and Vital over Cities. I'd probably say Cities is tied with Lowborn at 3 though.
