Huh. I'm pretty sure it's basically like a song about asking God to free him from his sin. I don't know, I feel like the lyrics point to something like that, but I might just be assuming since it's Relient k too. I'm curious, what do you think of it as?
I can absolutely see that side of it now and I think that's what the intent was but I never took that from it. I guess because I'm not religious I usually don't put that to the songs unless he specifically says god or jesus, haha. Just felt like a song about a girl or something, haha.
Yeah, except for the first few albums, I usually translate the religious lyrics to a relationship. I think he intentionally leaves them pretty ambiguous.
Interesting. I've never actually heard that about Be My Escape. I'm not really religious, but I definitely found out about Relient k because my religious background (my parents wouldn't let me listen to anything "not Christian"). I probably assume more stuff is religious than most people due to that.
Neither did I. That's really never something I think about. Edit: yeah, your last post about this I completely agree with
I knew this band through church way back but I got bored of them. As soon as FANSD got released I was a fan again haha.
I heard "Be My Escape" thru a friend, got into the band during the Mmhmm days and never looked back. And I'm an atheist, but the religious references have never made me some cynical prick haha. Matt is a straight up incredible songwriter and that's what made me keep coming back. I don't give a shit if they make a straight up worship album - if the hooks are there, I'll give it a spin.
I would say Give is one of their worst songs but since that includes most of Collapsible Lung padding it from the bottom I don't think it's awful, just mediocre. it's so straightforward.
Just let 'em all out, buddy. This is a no judge area (unless you really like CL, then everyone will judge you)
