I have no issues with ranking things. I get why it's lowest common denominator criticism, but i just like giving my opinion on how they rank against each other in my listening habits. Plus I saw and enjoyed High Fidelity a few times.
Me too. I really like the sound that they had on that song and songs like Savannah and Look On Up (even if I didn't care for the lyrics). Maybe AFF will be closer?
I would be more okay with it if people gave context for things. But just a list is pretty boring to read on a forum.
Why not have both? There's clearly been more than just lists in here. If you don't like them ignore them.
Honestly, I So Hate Consequences would probably be #8 or something but I didn't want to have MMHMM dominate my list. Love that song though.
Me too. Plus it's clearly easier for some people to just throw a list together than get involved in a disscussion based on how many more people seem to get involved in list posting than general discussion. That's fine imo, it may encourage those people to post more in depth in the future or maybe they already do at times but then there's other times they're too busy or not interested in writing something with much depth and like I said I still think that's more valueable than a post talking about how ranking is boring. Of course people can do what they want and I don't mean to tell people what to post, those opinions are just as valid as mine, haha.
I noticed that as I was going through it. Mmhmm is probably my second favorite album, but I like it as a whole and wouldn't really listen to any songs by themselves.
It's difficult for me to rank songs, as I listen to music as albums, and can't separate the songs from the order they're tracked as a cohesive set. The different track order between the vinyl and other releases of Air For Free is going to test me.
This is my dilemma. The order will fuck with my head since I listen to mostly records at home, and cd's in the car. I learn albums through track listings, remember songs I like based on their track number or placement in the album as opposed to titles. Probably gonna end up getting only the CD this time around, since I get to listen to music while driving more than while at home.
What I'm gonna do is make a playlist in the vinyl order on Spotify and I'll listen to the order I like better more.
I have to give the crown to "A lion on his side/Was it the lying or his pride that brought him down?" but "Sweeping up the seconds that tick off the clock/Saving them for later when I'm too ticked to talk" is one of Matt T's greatest puns. He has such a gift for that level of grammatical intricacy.
Things that are awful 1. lists 2. hitler 3 music discussion 4. i don't know where this joke is going or what i was trying to say
Just got my vinyl copies of Five Score and Mmhmm from SMLXL. Packaging isn't in great shape, bent at the corners and such, but the records look great. I wonder if they'd replace the packaging for me?
Everything I've ever got from them is top notch. If they won't replace it for free, they have sleeves for sale usually.
