Makes sense to me. Explains why Air For Free and his solo album were never released and why he’s recently been giving interviews claiming he has crippling anxiety about releasing more music because it could be 2013 all over again.
And it's a good thing you were there to witness Thiessen's breakdown in real-time so you could tell his story.
Putting Collapsible Lung aside, my impression is the fan base almost unanimously loves Air For Free, so I don't think M@'s nervous about a bad reception. They've toured those songs a handful of times and gotten a great response from every show I've been to. Edit: Not to mention, Hoopes mentioned on a podcast not too long ago that while recording CL, he told Thiessen a number of times that he was a better songwriter than those they collaborated with.
Nah. Don’t take it that way. It was a thought you had, so that’s cool. But I think there was just more evidence to the contrary.
Looks like Matt Thiessen made a surprise appearance at the Jack’s Mannequin show in Nashville last night during Amy, I (which he co-wrote). Pretty neat!
I would buy tickets so fast to that tour. I saw the JM tour last week, and it was absolutely fantastic.
Would anybody be interested in one of the Mmhmm 20th anniversary edition 1981 guitar pedals? Signed by both Matt’s. I’ve only used it a couple times. There’s one up on eBay for $300. I figured I’d sell mine at $250. That’s closer to what I paid for it anyway. I can send photos to interested parties. Free shipping. Let me know! If nobody is interested, I’ll post it on eBay myself or somewhere else.
