Yeah, I rarely listen to FANSD for the very reasons most people love it: it sounds so different production-wise (not a fan of the drums mix), has some very topic-specific lyrics I no longer connect with and doesn’t really sound like the version of RK I still like to revisit…I know I know, but it’s how I feel about the album 15 years removed.
I stand by what I said. That being said, if they ever did an album tour anywhere near me for FANSD, I'd be there in a heartbeat and singing along with every word. It's objectively a fantastic album, subjectively not my favorite.
I haven't checked their thread because I'm not super familiar with the band but Origami Angel's new album reminds me of Relient K at times
I see vinyl represses as keeping the flame alive. It’s not what many people want but the Matts are directly involved in these represses and active behind the scenes.
Relient K - MMHMM (20th Anniversary Limited Edition Vinyl Double LP) Remastered with expanded artwork, new color
I somehow missed that the 20 yr vinyl release was on the exact 20 yr date of Mmhmm. I was listening to the album tonight and remember counting down the days for that album to come out in high school. I remember going to a release show right before the album came out and got a copy mailed. Ahhh the days before streaming waiting for physical copies to arrive
My friend bought me it for Christmas but living in the UK it didn’t actually arrive until mid-January. Talk about waiting for physical copies!
Relient K is always a very big Nov/Dec band for me, for obvious reasons, and once again this year I am being enveloped in the pure joy and warmth of Let It Snow Baby... Let It Reindeer This album always gets me through rough times. These last couple months have been particularly rough, but things are looking brighter. This album helps quite a lot. Wishing you all the very best going into this holiday season
RK dropped the ball on not having a 20 yr annv tour for mmhmm, take our monies! i went to the 10 yr tour and had a blast, i would of gone again this year for sure.
Yea, and the Matt’s seemed to indicate something more was coming when Hoopes released the Mmhmm guitar pedal. I guess it was the super basic repress? Lame that’s all it amounted to. Although, speaking of it, I still haven’t tried out that pedal yet.
