Two Lefts is prob my favorite RK album, or maybe second favorite. Don't necessarily think it's their best. A lot of the self-titled and most of Anatomy, while not something I ever go back to, is better than CL and ALL of Two Lefts is better than all of CL. I mean, c'mon, Pressing On, Failure to Excommunicate, and Softer to Me are not better than ANYTHING on CL? That's absurd to me, lol. People think those that dislike CL overstate it but it really is so bad haha.
Yeah, same where Two Lefts is my favorite, but I can appreciate that it isn't their most accomplished or well-written record. That album holds a lot of memories for me.
Ooh, I also love Failure to Excommunicate. What a good track. Cool to see their maturation from the first album to that track.
nah dude the outros need to be separate from their songs. they're distinct thoughts and they would dictate the mood too broadly if they were attached to their main tracks
I think CL is a better album than Two Lefts, haha. I never said I don't think any songs from their first three are better than anything on CL, I think most of Two Lefts is better than Gloria, but I think a handful of songs from CL are better than anything from those first three albums.
Can't Complain is a pretty bad song but calling it one of the worst songs ever is straight hyperbole. Also, I'm not sure how you can rank PTL in the top half, that song is absolutely horrible
Anatomy is my favorite RK album, Two Lefts is probably 3rd. I still adore and listen to their older stuff. Probably more than the newer albums. Five Scores and CL are their worst albums BY FAR.
Five Score is so much better than their early stuff it's not even funny. Easily their second best imo. Their selftitled and Anatomy are their worst for me, both just pretty bad pop punk.
To me, the lyrics on Five Scores are almost CL-levels of bad. Just....such a step backwards for them, was such a disappointment when it came out.
They're so much better than the pre-Mmhmm stuff though, even most of Mmhmm. I think ditching the silliness was the best thing they ever did. Honestly I don't think they've ever had great lyrics until FANSD but Five Score is mostly good to really good imo.
Maybe I'm just blinded by nostalgia, but Five Scores was just uninteresting Pop-Rock. The earlier albums weren't all silliness and definitely were more enjoyable lyrically. Deathbed is probably the only song on Five Scores that I'd say competes with any other tracks on other albums. Everything else is forgettable.
I think Five Score is great pop rock and I'll always pick great pop rock over pop punk, ha. Earlier albums weren't all silliness but they were to a large extent and they always left little impression on me lyrically, I actually think most of them are pretty weak aside from some clever word play which isn't something I value that highly. I'm much more partial to lyrics evoking emotion or being relate able which is where Five Score works for me. They're not that complex but I think they capture the feeling of being in love very well.
Yeah, Five Score is second only to FANSD for me. Very consistent album. I basically think the band got better with each release until CL.
I agree that Five Score is incredibly underrated amongst fans in their discography, however I think Mmhmm is superior in nearly every way.
I seriously forget like the last half of Five Scores exists until I go listen to it. Can never remember the song names, the melodies, or anything. For being my favorite band since 2001 that is crazy.. EDIT: Like I just looked, I would have SERIOUSLY bet money that "Taking You With Me" and "Up and Up" were b-sides or something.
I feel like Five Score is like Take Off Your Pants. It's some of the band's best work and includes one of the band's best serious songs in Deathbed and Stay Together for the Kids, but it's sandwiched between the band's best selling album in Enema/Mmhmm and their more mature album in blink-182/FANSD (and then it's followed by a lackluster follow up!)
Five Score is so underrated. The run of MMHMM, Five Score, and Forget and Not Slow Down is the discography equivalent to a turkey in bowling in my eyes.
