I finally bought the DRV the same week he sent the email pre-order. All I could think was "great, another pedal I have to tell myself I don't need"
Just wanted to pop in and say that if anyone in this thread hasn’t checked out Origami Angel yet, you’re gonna want to.
I just now noticed that on the 10th anniversary edition of Mmhmm, they put Apathetic Way to Be after Let All Out instead of with the rest of the bonus tracks.
Intentional…same sequence as the vinyl. I believe they wanted Apathetic on the album but didn’t finish it in time and that’s where it would’ve gone.
Yeah I know it’s intentional, I just never noticed it until now. Was it also in that spot on the original vinyl pressing of the album?
Yeah, before you responded I looked up the original pressing and saw it on there and I got a slight inkling that I actually did at one time know it was on there, but I forgot about it so entirely that realizing it yesterday was like learning about it for the first time lol.
I happened to finally buy bingo of it on Discogs on Friday. I need to complete my collection, I have everything else already now. I listened to it in the past year. Still find most of the lyrics to be pretty hollow and lacking. Few decent songs. Such a weird step for the band to take.
Co-writes…it’s not really an album that’s entirely representative of the band. It exists and I think it needed to be made for them to continue as a band, at the time. It’s sort of a side-project RK album that happens to be an official album.
There are three or four songs I play pretty often and add to my Relient K mixes. Definitely not to the level of their other albums, but I don't hate it.
I listened to some stuff off gami gang and couldn't really get into it, felt pretty amateur, but just listened to two songs off this one and it sounds waaay better than I remember. Did they get better or was I just wrong? haha
I was wondering the same thing haha. I liked some of Gami Gang but this new one feels way stronger to me. Also still has a lot of Thiessen-sounding parts. track 1 "they tell me I never will" and track 2 second verse "Carolina weather" for example
kind of both? The recording quality is better and the songwriting is a little tighter, but Gami Gang is not very different from this in a songwriting sense. I'd give it and Somewhere City another shot.
Yeah people always say they sound a lot like Relient K but I don’t always hear it. Every once in a while I think “ok this part sounds like RK a little but I wouldn’t have noticed if it wasn’t pointed out to me”
CL is legit one of the worst albums I’ve ever had the displeasure of hearing. “Smiling thinking about my puppy on my bed back home” lmao
