It's tough to get a full read on it with the other background music going in that vid, but whatever song Matt is playing in it sounds good as hell. As much as a 1.5 second clip can sound good as hell anyway lol
From what I understand they aren’t recording an original song…just one cover song. According to someone in the know. Sorry to disappoint. But it’d be great if they did more.
Stoked to hear new music regardless, but that's a bummer to hear. Hopefully things will come together for another full-length one day soon!
I couldn’t care less about a cover. Even if I like it. When it’s been this long without a new album, a cover ain’t it, my dudes. *side eyes Midtown*
It’s one thing to do one in between normal album cycles. Even then, eh, I can pass on it. But I wouldn’t be bummed by it. But with RK and Midtown? Ugh, don’t waste my time.
There was a week between Dark Horse's posts, does anyone know how long they were actually in the studio? If they were there that whole time, it seems like way too long for only a single cover song
Matthew Hoopes: Relient K Great listen with Hoopes. Hinted at wanting to make new music/Thiessen playing him some new stuff but nothing concrete.
Finally listened to the podcast with Hoopes, really good listen. Very excited for possibility of new music. Matt T writing "orchestral" music makes me think of a Relient K/Format/Fun type album which I would totally be on board with. Also excited for Hoopes wanting a loud rock album
It's going to be a full on Relient K day/week. Rewatching the Live from Capitol Records session from the Five Score album, so good. Their cover of Sloop John B is the band in peak form
Recently started listening to Air For Free for basically the first time and I can't get enough of that end section of Elephant Parade. So so good
I don't play guitar, but I've actually been wondering that. I had heard some good things, but I didn't know if they were well-liked or if it was just a supportive thing for a friend/ cool guy. Nice to hear the product is actually good.
the big hit against them is that they’re overpriced for what they are and, for a long time, he only had one product and would just release different color ways to keep maintaining attention. they are definitely expensive but considering how good they are idk if overpriced is fair and now that he’s backing it up with a second pedal who cares about the other stuff.
matt released his second pedal today. i've had it for a few weeks grabbing it from his email list pre-order and it's so sick. the DRV is the best style RAT pedal on the market, but i'd say this is more usable for different amounts of gain. according to him, this is more the FANSD range of gain, whereas the DRV is more Mhm. if y'all play guitar at all you should check it out.
