Anatomy has so much good shit on it and the production is like the gold standard for christian pop punk
I have a soft spot for those albums. Buying that ugly ass self-titled album in the weird ass case is a memory that has stuck with me to this day.
For the record, adored them growing up. I’ve been with them since the beginning. But man every time I try to listen to those two albums I just can’t make it through them. They got so much better.
I got the second CD version with a normal case, but recently in a record store I saw a used version of the original with the weird case and it made me laugh
The acoustic version on the Creepy EP is so good too Yes the S/T album is subpar compared to the rest of their discography but it will always hold a special spot for getting me into this scene I listen to the S/T or even the All Work and No Play album more than CL (which is never)
Any thoughts on the original mixes of Anatomy & Two Lefts vs. the remixed ("gold") versions? It's a bit weird to consider how the only way to hear the original mixes is via CD nowadays...anyone like elements of the original mixes over the remixed versions, by chance?
I have the original versions so permanently stuck in my brain the new mixes still sound strange. I don't know if I have a preference, just so used to the originals
Wow that's interesting. Streaming/vinyl versions are the remixed/remastered versions, so you'd almost have to go out of your way to avoid the newer versions haha.
I still use iTunes for 90% of my listening for a variety of reasons, but my iTunes library has the original versions so that's what I listen to!
Forget and Not Slow Down was a huge record for a very rough season of my life. I need to spin Air For Free again, I remember loving it, but haven't listened to it since it came out. I think I always got confused by which track listing was the correct one, as the vinyl and other releases were different.
I've always been curious about what percent of folks now days only listen to locally stored music now that streaming is so prominent. I gotta have my lossless music!
I still own a ton of CDs, but I don’t rip them to iTunes anymore unless there are bonus tracks or something. I figure that even if it’s small, listening to the Apple Music versions still gives the band a little bit of money. So I buy CDs, but still stream anything that is available that way.
For me, I just have too big of a music library where a lot of it doesn't exist on streaming (demos, b-sides, certain full albums etc) so that's a major reason for not switching. But mostly it's because the user interface of most streaming services really sucks
I guess I should also clarify that I have that stuff too. Certain bands/artists like Anberlin, Jimmy Eat World, and David Bowie I spent a ton of time tracking down every b-side they've released, and no there's no way in hell I'm ever giving that shit up. Also, some albums that don't exist on streaming services. I use Apple Music purely because I've used iTunes my whole life so it's pretty easy for me, but I also totally get the issue with the interfaces. They can be weird.
Just curious which device do you use? Sometimes I want to convert all my CDs into lossless and use a portable device, so then I can add in all the random b-sides/extra songs (like RK songs, just to remain on topic) not on streaming...and then I look into all the options and it's nuts how many there are.
So I don't really have a big issue with V0 or 320 mp3s versus lossless, so I have it a bit easier than you in this case. at home and work I use iTunes on my desktop computers & speaker system, and in the car I actually use a iPod (yeah, an iPod) that connects to my media player.
