I like Bummin a fair amount but it's not the kind of RK song I really get excited about. I do love Look On Up though. More than anything on the last album
I love both. Look On Up was definitely more immediate while Bummin has grown on me immensely with each listen.
Wasn't a huge fan of Look On Up when they played it live a while ago and thought with the recorded version I might like it more but nope. There's just not much there musically and the lyrics are painfully topical. Still better than most of CL but that's not saying much. Haven't listened to Bummin yet but really hope I like it.
I like both tracks well enough. I think since mmhmm none of the new RK records have been what I "expected" from them none of them have really let me down (except I guess CL). They seem to have put a lot of work and thought into this record, and obviously a lot of time, so I am hopeful that it will exceed my expectations. I've loved RK since I was like 12 but obviously they have grown up and changed styles and I'm ready to see what they hit us with on Air for Free.
Just a reminder to take advantage of 20% off the Relient K vinyl represses at SMLXL with "RSDRK" - code is good through tomorrow. Happy Record Store Day!
^I just took advantage of that myself. Finally picked up everything from Tongue in Cheek through Five Score and I am thrilled.
I forgot to hit them up about refunding me the difference, since I bought Two Lefts 5 minutes before seeing the code..
Bummin' is a good jam. I'm more excited that it was Matt and Matt locked away in a cottage writing the album. Feels like a very FANSD thing to do.
This is probably crazy to some of you, but did anyone else import their Forget and Not Slow Down to an 11-song tracklist? I don't mean cutting any tracks, but I combined intros and outros to songs so that listening to any of the songs on shuffle wouldn't sound horrible
it's called "linking" the tracks. I've done it on a few key albums where I feel the break between songs is harsh without, such as this, Tool's Lateralus, and a few others
If I remember correctly I did it in Garageband. haha. iTunes sounds way easier. I've been listening to it that way for so long I sometimes forget about the interludes. Haha
Some of those outros totally make those songs better though. Especially the one for "Part of It", honestly one of my favourite parts of the album.
