I'm excited to listen to this for the first time and voting. I may miss the first round though depending on how long it stays open.
The catch all round will be for I’ve Got 10 Friends Sunburnt Unsound Loneliness Another Life ? Not worth it just tack them on their albums?Sorry if this has been discussed and I missed it.
TOCS has 4 bonus tracks Anthology has 2 new songs Erase Me had 2 bonus tracks Having said that...a couple of the TOCS songs are essentially demos... I guess I’m fine either way. My thinking of having a separate round was to make a championship bracket with 8 songs avoiding first round byes, but I guess that’s not really that important. What bracket makes sense for the Anthology songs? Disambiguation I guess?
Yeah, the three demos is what I figured led to the decision. Eight makes a lot of sense; I was partially just making sure I hadn’t missed anything, haha. We could just give Unsound a bye to the finals ;)
You know, the more I think about it, I like the idea of including the bonus tracks with the albums. I could see there being a bit of a lull when we’d get to a bonus track bracket anyway. I guess I’d include all the TOCS bonus tracka because the demos are still a bit different. As far as the Anthology tracks go, I think grouping them with Disambiguation makes the most sense. Anybody here have strong opinions one way or the other?

We could just have a one round anthology bracket with Sunburnt and Unsound facing off. That would be a fun little matchup.
Yea it’d be more in line with tradition I think to keep demos and b sides with their albums so that’s what I’d prefer. Loneliness vs sunburnt/unsound is too hard haha. I like the idea of an anthology faceoff, that’d be different. Fortunately both songs are well liked so i don’t think it’d be a waste.
The first post in this thread has been updated to show a couple things: 1) The 7th bracket we do will be a one round Anthology bracket instead of a bonus tracks/catch-all bracket. 2) Bonus tracks will be included in the album bracket that they are a part of. For example, They're Only Chasing Safety bonus tracks will be included in the They're Only Chasing Safety bracket. I've decided not to include the Disambiguation bonus tracks since they are remixes of songs on that album. I hope that works for everyone! The Changing Of Times round 2 will be starting soon.
I know there's 'I've Got 10 Friends...' but weren't some of the other They're Only Chasing Safety B-sides actually just demos of the songs from the album? I'm remembering You're So Intricate or something like that. Can't remember much else.
Yeah, You're So Intricate is a demo for I'm Content With Losing. I think it's different enough that we could include it - the whole chorus is really different. The 80's song is a demo for It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door. It's very very similar to It's Dangerous Business...so I'm not sure that there's really a need to include it. The song Smic Tague is an instrumental version of Some Will Seek Forgiveness, Others Escape that probably wouldn't get many (or any) votes. I'm fine with leaving out the 3 demo tracks. One way or another, there are probably going to be a couple unhappy people ;)
That'll do it for round one of The Changing Of Times! Angel Below and A Message For Adrienne both advance to Round Two. Round One Final Totals: Letting Go Of Tonight - 2 Angel Below - 7 A Message For Adrienne - 9 814 Stops Today - 0 -------------------------- Round Two: Angel Below vs. Short Of Daybreak The Best Of Me vs. Alone In December A Message For Adrienne vs. Never Meant To Break Your Heart The Changing Of Times vs. When The Sun Sleeps Round Two begins now and will go for 24 hours!
Ah, I'd forgotten pretty much all of that! I don't mind either way - not sure I've listened to any outside I've Got 10 Friends... Anyway, back to the matter in hand... Angel Below - again, there's something more interesting about this song thanks to the synth. Alone In December - one of the better tracks on this album. Never Meant To Break Your Heart - I do like the end of A Message for Adrienne but I think I prefer Never Meant To Break Your Heart. When The Sun Sleeps - an easier decision, although the title track is nice at the beginning with the spoken word and singing. In fact, there are some great clean vocals on that track. But When The Sun Sleeps is a classic.
Barely missed the first round. Done a few listens on this though. This album brought me back to A Static Lullaby "...And Don't Forget to Breathe" days, a classic even though it sounds really under produced and demo-y sometimes. -Short Of Daybreak -Alone In December -A Message For Adrienne (brutal match up, probably my two favorites) -When The Sun Sleeps (the music video is so terrible though lol)
Short of Daybreak Alone in December A Message for Adrienne When the Sun Sleeps The last two were tough. The last 1:30 or so on Never Meant you Break Your Heart is one of my favorite parts of the album and I’d take the title track over any song other than Alone in December and When the Sun Sleeps.
Current Totals: Angel Below - 4 Short Of Daybreak - 2 The Best Of Me - 0 Alone In December - 6 A Message For Adrienne - 5 Never Meant To Break Your Heart - 1 The Changing Of Times - 0 When The Sun Sleeps - 6
